Premier League tips: Best bets for Arsenal v Liverpool

Arsenal will aim to re-assert themselves in the Premier League title race on Sunday when they take on leaders Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium.

Reds can extend their unbeaten run

Liverpool have not sustained a Premier League defeat since their controversial 2-1 reverse against Tottenham in September and they can ensure a happier north London experience this weekend by holding Arsenal to a draw at the Emirates Stadium.

The Reds have not won any of their last three league meetings against the Gunners, but they head to the capital on an unbeaten run of 15 league games.

Jurgen Klopp’s side were impressive 4-1 winners at home to Chelsea on Wednesday with 20-year-old right back Conor Bradley stealing the show thanks to two assists and a well-taken goal.

However, Bradley is far from certain to keep his place because Trent Alexander-Arnold came on for the final 25 minutes against the Blues and is sure to come into consideration for a promotion to the starting line-up.

Klopp may wish to go with an experienced side and could also consider the merits of a recall for left back Andy Robertson, who was another of the midweek substitutes to be afforded some valuable game-time.

However, Klopp will be reluctant to make wholesale alterations to the side which excelled against the big-spending Blues and won the shot count by 28 to four.

Liverpool cannot expect to exert such domination over the Gunners, who have given them two difficult games this season.

Mikel Arteta’s side were well worth the 1-1 draw they achieved at Anfield in December and they were on the front foot for large parts of last month’s FA Cup third round tie in north London until Jakub Kiwior’s 80th minute own goal and Luiz Diaz’s injury-time strike settled the occasion in Liverpool’s favour.

The trend of closely-fought encounters is set to continue and there is value in siding with the draw at 5/2.

Title rivals can keep their heads

Fixtures between title rivals are always keenly contested, but expectations of a high card count between Arsenal and Liverpool may be misplaced.

Punters can back under 4.5 cards for Sunday’s fixture at 21/20 and that may be worth consideration.

Arsenal’s card count, 31 yellows and two reds, is the lowest in the Premier League, while Liverpool are sixth on the same metric with 40 yellows and four dismissals.

Nunez can make his mark

Darwin Nunez struck the woodwork on four occasions during Liverpool’s 4-1 success at home to Chelsea on Wednesday and he looks a tempting first scorer bet at 11/2 for Sunday’s clash at the Emirates.

The Uruguayan is playing with lots of intensity and he bagged a brace when the Reds triumphed 4-0 at Bournemouth on their last Premier League road trip.
