Premier League acca: A 10/1 four-fold for Saturday’s matches

Joe Champion's picks for Saturday's top-flight action include wins for Spurs and Brighton and goals at St James' Park and Bramall Lane.

It’s a quick turnaround for the Premier League teams who were all in action in midweek and Saturday’s coupon features five matches headlined by Everton’s home clash with Spurs and Aston Villa’s trip to Sheffield United, both of which are televised.

There are three other matches for punters to get stuck into, including an Amex clash between Brighton and bitter rivals Crystal Palace.

Everton v Tottenham (12.30)

Saturday’s opening contest sees Tottenham travel to Merseyside to face troubled Everton and Ange Postecoglou’s men look a solid bet to return to north London with three points in the bag.

After a poor spell in November and early December, Spurs have put together a run of five Premier League wins from their last seven including a 3-2 win over Brentford on Wednesday in which James Maddison started a match for the first time in almost three months.

Everton, meanwhile, are in a false position due to their points deduction but they’ve scored just two goals in their last six games and could struggle to cope with Spurs’ firepower.

Brighton v Crystal Palace (15.00)

These two teams had contrasting results in midweek as Brighton sank to a 4-0 loss to Luton and Crystal Palace came from behind to win 3-2 at home to Sheffield United, but roles could be reversed when they meet on the south coast.

Brighton fell behind early against the Hatters and never recovered but Roberto De Zerbi’s men tend to be a more dangerous proposition on home turf, where they are unbeaten in the Premier League since an August loss to West Ham.

Eberechi Eze and Michael Olise, the stars of Palace’s win in midweek, both picked up knocks in that game and are not certain to line up. If one of them is missing, that points this fixture firmly in Brighton’s favour.

Newcastle v Luton (15.00)

Newcastle snapped a four-match losing Premier League run with a 3-1 win over Aston Villa on Tuesday but there are no guarantees the Magpies can back up that victory when they host Luton at St James’ Park.

Newcastle will expect to win but Luton are on a fine run of their own, the Hatters having found only Chelsea too strong in their last five Premier League outings.

Rob Edwards’ men have scored in each of their last nine Premier League matches and both teams to score, which has landed in each of Newcastle’s last four league outings, looks a decent wager.

Sheffield United v Aston Villa (17.30)

There could also be action at both ends at Bramall Lane, where Sheffield United and Aston Villa can combine for a Saturday evening thriller.

The Blades are still producing poor results but they have been more adventurous under Chris Wilder, scoring in four of their last five Premier League matches, with only Manchester City managing to keep them at bay.

Villa, still very much in the mix for a top-four finish, will be smarting after their 3-1 defeat at home to Newcastle so they should be playing with a point to prove. They have the attacking quality to get on the scoresheet.
