Mythbusters: 4 Premier League coupon-busters to avoid this weekend

The Premier League is back after a two-week hiatus, and here is our case for four firm favourites to drop points...

Myth: Everton to beat struggling Swans

Bob Bradley’s Swansea are in awful form, and face a daunting trip to Ronald Koeman’s Everton on Saturday.

But the Toffees have not won any of their last five games against the Welsh side, including a shock home defeat last season.

Everton have also won just one of their last three home matches, and conceded five in a terrible performance at Chelsea a fortnight ago.

It is worth noting that Ronald Koeman’s side have slipped up against relegation candidates Crystal Palace and Burnley already this season, and can be backed at {ODDS:118330830:11/8} to do the same this week.

Myth: Foxes to hunt down Hornets

Premier League champions Leicester are favourites to beat a Watford side that conceded six goals last time out at Anfield.

But the Foxes’ record at Vicarage Road is not the best. They have won on just two of their last eight trips to Hertfordshire.

Claudio Ranieri’s side are, too, without an away league win this season.

The Hornets, meanwhile, are unbeaten in three home league matches, and had kept three consecutive clean sheets before that forgettable afternoon at Liverpool.

Walter Mazzarri’s side are one of just three teams to win both of their post-international break fixtures this season, and are available at {ODDS:118333733:1/2} to at least not lose here.

Myth: Chelsea to continue fine form at ‘Boro

Chelsea have won five consecutive league matches without conceding a goal, and are heavy favourites to extend that run at Middlesbrough on Sunday.

But Aitor Karanka’s side have frustrated two title hopefuls recently.

They held Arsenal to a 0-0 draw at the Emirates Stadium last month, and scored a late equaliser to gain a point at Manchester City a fortnight ago.

Though Antonio Conte’s visitors have clearly improved recently, they have only won three of their last six away games and were held at Swansea in September.

The visitors to slip up on this occasion can be backed at {ODDS:118332771:6/4}.

Myth: West Brom to overcome newly-promoted Burnley

West Brom are odds-on favourites to beat Burnley this weekend, having beaten Leicester in their last match.

But the Baggies’ home form has not been particularly impressive recently.

Tony Pulis’ side have won just one of their last five matches at the Hawthorns, including a draw with Middlesbrough and a 4-0 thrashing from Manchester City.

Burnley, meanwhile, are impressing on their return to the Premier League, with victory over Everton last time out taking them into the top half.

That West Brom have won just two of the last seven meetings between these sides further suggests that this will be no procession for the hosts, and the visitors are available at {ODDS:118336139:10/11} to claim at least a point.
