Don’t Speculate: 5 football tips for Tuesday 21 08 18

You would be £52.10 in profit if you had staked £10 on each of Will Rook‘s EFL picks this season. Here are his football betting tips for Tuesday’s action.

Bristol City to win or draw v QPR –

QPR’s dreadful start to the season continued on Saturday with a 7-1 pasting away to West Brom.

That result has left Steve McClaren’s side bottom of the Championship, having lost three games out of three and conceded 10 goals – the joint-most in the EFL.

Bristol City are stuck on two points after a 2-0 home defeat to early leaders Middlesbrough at the weekend, but an R’s side devoid of confidence and defensive organisation should provide an easier test.

Portsmouth to beat Bristol Rovers –

Portsmouth eased to a 4-1 victory over Oxford on Saturday and are one of just three sides in the Football League with a 100 per cent record intact.

Pompey should extend that to a fourth league game against hosts Bristol Rovers, who have had a tricky start.

Rovers earned their first points of the season at the weekend with a 2-1 win over struggling Wycombe, but had previously lost to Peterborough and Accrington.

Plymouth to beat Wycombe –

Wycombe have struggled to adapt to life in League One since being promoted, with just one point after three matches.

Wanderers were beaten 2-1 at home to Bristol Rovers at the weekend and have managed just three shots on target in their last two games.

Plymouth are stuck on one point themselves, but a draw with Southend and a 1-0 EFL Cup win over Bristol City in their last three matches suggests they are capable of beating one of the division’s worst sides.

MK Dons to beat Grimsby –

MK Dons were held to 0-0 draw away to Crewe last time out, having won their previous three matches in all competitions.

Paul Tisdale’s side should return to winnings ways back at Stadium MK, where they have won two from two and scored four goals without reply.

Grimsby have won just seven of their last 24 away games in the league, while their only victory of the season so far came against pointless Macclesfield in their second league game.

Northampton to beat Morecambe –

Morecambe are one of just two sides yet to win a point or score a goal in League Two, along with Cheltenham.

The Shrimps followed their 6-0 opening-day drubbing at Crewe with a 2-0 defeat against Exeter and a 1-0 loss at Stevenage.

Northampton have squandered the lead in back-to-back 2-2 draws in the league, but should become the latest team to take advantage of the impotent Shrimps.
