PREMIER LEAGUE
Jack Green‘s pick: Liverpool
The Reds notched three against Watford on the opening day, and it looks like only Manchester City will match them going forward this season.
Expect them to score early and often against the ridiculously open Palace, who somehow conspired to let in three at home to Huddersfield last weekend.
Honourable mentions: Bournemouth, Leicester
Bournemouth scored seven goals in the first 10 minutes of games last season, and now face a Watford side that conceded three against Liverpool last week.
Leicester, meanwhile, were equally as prolific early on in matches last term, and Jamie Vardy looks to be in good nick to start this campaign.
CHAMPIONSHIP
Will Rook‘s pick: Bristol City
Last week’s winners from the Championship look the best bet to bag first again, having opened the scoring in each of their four games this season.
The Robins have netted goals in the first, second, fifth and 16th minutes, while five of their six league goals have come in the first half hour of matches – more than any other side.
Their opponents Millwall are yet to keep a clean sheet in the league and shipped four goals at home to Ipswich in midweek, conceding the opener after just four minutes.
Honourable mentions: Barnsley, Ipswich
Barnsley have scored inside the first three minutes in two of their four matches, most recently in their win over Nottingham Forest on Tuesday.
Ipswich have a 100 per cent record in league and cup and have netted nine goals so far.
Against Brentford, who have conceded six in two and are yet to record a victory this season, the Tractor Boys could be fast starters.
LEAGUE ONE
Tom Clee‘s pick: Fleetwood
Wimbledon conceded the most goals during the first 10 minutes of any team in League One last season, and have already shipped another two in their first two games this time around.
Travelling to face a Fleetwood team that are full of confidence after winning both of their games so far without conceding a goal, the Dons look the most vulnerable of anyone.
Honourable mentions: Peterborough, Shrewsbury
Peterborough have been the first scorers in League One for two weekends in a row after notching within the first six minutes of both.
At home to recently-relegated Rotherham, don’t rule out the division’s top scorers from doing so again.
Shrewsbury are another team with a perfect record and, at home to Rochdale – who were notoriously flaky on the road last season – they are a decent shout to maintain that momentum with a nice early goal.
LEAGUE TWO
Adam Drury‘s pick: Cambridge
Crawley have had a bad start to the season, forcing their board to issue Harry Kewell with a public vote of confidence already.
Unfortunately for Kewell, due to Sod’s Law, an early breakthrough for Cambridge at the Checkatrade.com Stadium (yep) is unavoidable.
Honourable mentions: Carlisle, Luton
Carlisle scored in the first 10 minutes last week and host dodgy-travellers Cheltenham.
Luton, meanwhile, are back on home soil – where they scored eight last time out – against Colchester.
