PREMIER LEAGUE

Top pick: Newcastle

Newcastle have scored four goals inside the first 15 minutes of games this season, and three of those have come away from home.

The Magpies have a great chance of registering early once again when they visit Bournemouth, who have conceded inside 10 minutes in five of their last eight matches in all competitions.

Honourable mention: Liverpool

Liverpool have scored more goals in the first half an hour of games than any other Premier League side, and they found the net inside the first six minutes in both of their last two matches.

They’re a solid choice against West Ham, who have conceded the second-most away goals in the league.

CHAMPIONSHIP

Top pick: Middlesbrough

Having successfully tipped Brentford to score first at Sunderland last week, I have no problem going with this Saturday’s visitors to the Stadium of Light.

Middlesbrough found some form with a 3-1 win over Hull on Tuesday, while Sunderland have conceded eight goals inside the first 35 minutes in their last 10 home matches.

Honourable mentions: Brentford, Millwall

Brentford –  last week’s winners – won 5-0 on Tuesday, and go to Leeds, who were 2-0 down inside 16 minutes in their last home match.

Burton have conceded at least twice in 10 of their last 12 home games, so in-form Millwall are a good bet.

LEAGUE ONE

Top pick: Southend

Southend are developing a habit of starting fast under Chris Powell, having scored inside seven minutes in three of their last four matches.

They’ve now scored more goals during the first 10 than any other side in the division, and are likely to strike early against an Oldham side that have conceded the most during the same period.

Honourable mentions: Scunthorpe, Blackpool

Scunthorpe are only one behind Southend in that list, and are another solid shout away to Bristol Rovers.

The Gas have now conceded the 4 To Score goal a whopping five times this season, having done so twice inside the last month.

Portsmouth, meanwhile, have let in the division’s earliest goal on two of the last three weekends, and are vulnerable of doing so again against a Blackpool side that took the lead against Wigan after just three minutes the last time they took to the road.

LEAGUE TWO

Top pick: Wycombe

Wycombe have already hit 21 league goals in the calendar year, which is more than any other side in the top four divisions.

The Chairboys have scored second- and third-minute goals in their last five, while Morecambe – who are without a win in six – have conceded twice inside the opening 14 minutes of their last four.

Honourable mentions: Colchester, Chesterfield

Colchester host bottom-of-the-league Barnet, who have conceded the opening goal in 13 of their 17 away games this season – more than any other team in League Two.

The Bees were 1-0 down to Yeovil after two minutes in their last away match, and are a decent shout for another slow start.

Swindon have conceded after three and 11 minutes in consecutive weeks, while Chesterfield have scored goals in the first and 18th minutes of their last three.
