Former Emmerdale actor Lewis Cope is the favourite to win the BBC ballroom dancing competition, which begins this Saturday.
Season 23 of Strictly Come Dancing begins this weekend, with 15 celebrities set to strut their stuff on our screens.
Lewis Cope is currently the favourite in the betting odds, with the West End star priced at 5/2 to emerge as this year’s winner.
He’s followed in the odds by model and actress Ellie Goldstein, Love Island winner Dani Dyer, former footballer Karen Carney, TV personality Vicky Pattison and YouTuber George Clarke.
Among those looking to cause a surprise as an outsider is former Chelsea and Leeds striker Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, who recently spoke with online casino Betway about his latest adventure.
“I’ve really enjoyed it,” Hasselbaink said. “I can’t tell you yet who my partner is, but she’s been magnificent with me. But it’s really, really hard. It’s tough, really tough. I’m in the unknown so I’m very nervous, but on the other side it’s very exciting as well.
“It’s been much tougher than I thought but there haven’t been any injuries yet.
“I don’t know who my biggest competition is, but I want to take every day as it comes. I’m competitive. I want to be the best version that I can be and I want to learn. I don’t want to become a dancer, but I want to learn how to dance and I want to do it properly. I want to make people proud.
“I’m looking to improve week by week and show that I can grasp it. But then we will see if I can get as far as possible.”
Hasselbaink also revealed which current Premier League player he thinks would be the best ballroom dancer.
“I think Virgil Van Dijk. He has the posture for it.”
