Healthy quarterbacks reshape the Week 11 betting board, while Toronto and Hamilton offer value as home and road underdogs
In CFL action, the B.C. Lions haven’t looked great all season, but for bettors, they just got healthy, with quarterback Nathan Rourke looking sharp in his return last week (a 27-24 win over Hamilton, where he went 22-39, for 370 yards, for two TDs, with one interception, including an 82-yard pass play).
Makes things interesting if you’re betting CFL this weekend.
In Week 11, starting tonight, the B.C. Lions (3-5) take on the Calgary Stampeders (4-5), 9 p.m. EST, in Calgary.
In CFL betting at Betway, the Stamps are Moneyline favourites at -200, the Lions +175, while the Spread is Calgary -4.5 (-105), B.C. +4.5 (-115). The Total is 64.5 (Over: -105, Under: -115).
Tomorrow night, the Ottawa Redblacks (0-8) are in Winnipeg to play the Blue Bombers (4-4), 8:30 p.m. EST. The Bombers are big Moneyline favourites at -334, the Redblacks +250, with the Spread Winnipeg -6.5 (-115), Ottawa +6.5 (-105). Total is 56.5 (Over is -110, Under is -110).
Saturday, at 3 p.m. EST, the Toronto Argonauts (4-4) are in Edmonton to play the Elks (6-3). The Elks are Moneyline favourites at -182, the Argos +150. On the Spread, Toronto is +3.5 (-115), Edmonton -3.5 (-105). Total is 62.5 (Over is -110, Under is -110).
And on Sunday, the Saskatchewan Roughriders (6-2) are in Hamilton (3-6) to take on the Tiger-Cats, at 7 p.m. EST. Saskatchewan is the big Moneyline favourite, at -350, while the Ticats are +275. The Spread is Roughriders -7.5 (-115), the Ticats +7.5 (-105). Over is 56.5 (Over is -110, Under is -110).
Besides Rourke, for the Lions, key pieces like James Butler, Zander Horvath and slotback Stanley Berryhill are back as well. Take B.C. +4.5. Rourke’s return makes B.C. dangerous enough to keep it close against a Calgary defence that’s been giving up yards and points. They’ve given up the second-most passing yards per game in the CFL (2,989 yards).
I’m also taking that Bombers -6.5 Spread, especially with QB Zach Collaros returning from injury. Winnipeg will control this one at home, against an Ottawa team that has really struggled (at the bottom or near the bottom in all offence categories, including scoring just 186 points).
Argos +3.5 also has appeal – big-play offence (No. 2 in the CFL in net offence with 3,420 yards, after Montreal’s 4,086 yards, including leading the CFL in passing yards at 2,905), and opportunistic defence for the Argos (six forced fumbles, seven interceptions) makes them live underdogs against the Elks.
And the Roughriders, as one of the stronger West Division teams, should take out the Ticats in Hamilton, but the Ticats always play tough at home. Overall, they battle every week, so they’ll keep it close. I’d lean Hamilton +7.5 in this one.
