Richard Johnson

Richard has been one of the mainstays of the National Hunt weighing room since winning the conditional jockey's title in the 1995/96 season.

His first winner came under rules in April 1994 and, since then, he has gone to ride over 3,500 more – the second-most of all-time.

Having finished runner-up to AP McCoy on 16 occasions, Richard was finally crowned champion jump jockey for the first time in 2016 and has since gone on to win the title for four successive seasons.

Johnson has enjoyed great success at the Cheltenham Festival, and is one of only four jockeys riding today to win all four championship races, including the 2018 Gold Cup with Native River.

He has been a Betway ambassador since 2015 and provides twice-weekly blogs on the Betway Insider, as well as a daily column throughout major fixtures in the horse racing betting calendar such as the Cheltenham and Grand National Festivals.
