The most photogenic sports stadiums in the US and Canada

From multi-purpose domes to history-steeped fields, there are thousands of impressive stadiums scattered all over North America. But, which infamous sports stadiums are the most photogenic?

Our sports betting team at Betway has conducted a new study, analysing combined TikTok and Instagram hashtag data for 150 stadiums across a range of popular sports in the US and Canada, to determine which are the most photographed.

The most photogenic sports stadiums in the US

Looking at American football, basketball, baseball and ice hockey venues, we’ve determined which US sports stadiums are the most photographed on social media.

It’s interesting to note that the top 10 most photographed sports stadiums in general across North America are all located in the US. On top of this, one sport in particular is clearly the winner when it comes to picturesque stadiums, with the top five stadiums all being Major League Baseball (MLB) ballparks.

1.    Yankees Stadium

Taking the crown as the most photogenic stadium across the whole of North America is the Yankee Stadium. Located in the Bronx borough of New York, the stadium has a combined total of 695,801 hashtags on TikTok and Instagram.

Most famous as the home of MLB team the New York Yankees, the stadium also serves as the home ground for the New York FC soccer team. It’s particularly popular on Instagram, with 658,401 posts on the platform tagged with #YankeeStadium — the most of any stadium in the study.

The ballpark only opened in 2009, replacing the original Yankees Stadium that dated back to 1923. Many of its design features are inspired by the original stadium, including the iconic curved frieze that lines the roof.

2.   Dodger Stadium

In second place is another MLB ballpark, the Dodger Stadium. Home of the Los Angeles Dodgers, the stadium has a combined total of 676,961 hashtags on both TikTok and Instagram.

3.   Wrigley Field

Home of the Chicago Cubs, Wrigley Field is in third place, with a combined total of 564,910 tagged social media posts. Located on the North Side of Chicago, it’s the second oldest baseball park in the majors, having opened in 1914.

Nicknamed ‘The Friendly Confines,’ the stadium was made a National Historic Landmark in 2020 and its iconic features include the ivy-covered brick outfield wall and the hand-turned scoreboard.

4.   Fenway Park

Coming in fourth is Fenway Park, based in Boston. The stadium was built way back in 1912, making it the oldest active ballpark in MLB. It’s been the home of the Boston Red Sox since it first opened, and the stadium has a combined total of 538,719 hashtags on Instagram and TikTok.

The ballpark is considered to be one of the most well-known sports venues in the world, and in 2012 the park was added to the National Register of Historic Places. Fenway Park has lots of unique features, including ‘The Green Monster’ wall which is decorated with player signatures from over the years, and the lone red seat which pays homage to the longest home run ever hit at the stadium.

5.   Citi Field

Rounding off the top five most photogenic sports stadiums in the US is another baseball park, Citi Field.

Located in the Queens borough of New York City, the stadium is home to the New York Mets, and has a combined total of 467,871 tagged posts on social media. With a combined total of 410,013 tagged posts on social media, in sixth place is the Barclays Center, located in Brooklyn, New York City. The multi-purpose indoor arena is home to NBA team the Brooklyn Jets, and also the Women’s NBA team the New York Liberty.

The stadium is known for its high-tech design, and its iconic exterior is made up of 12,000 weathered steel panels that are intended to reflect the brownstone buildings of Brooklyn. The arena floor is also located underground, which allows views of the scoreboard from the entrance and even the plaza outside.

7.   MetLife Stadium

Home to two NFL teams, the New York Giants and the New York Jets, the MetLife Stadium is in seventh place. Located in Rutherford, New Jersey, the stadium is one of the largest in the NFL, with a capacity of 82,500.

The stadium has also hosted plenty of concerts through the years, with big names like Beyonce and Jay-Z having taken to the field. It’s also set to host the final of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

8.   Petco Park

Yet another MLB stadium to grace our list, Petco Park has come in eighth, with 300,168 combined posts on TikTok and Instagram.

Located in San Diego, it’s the ballpark home of MLB team the San Diego Padres. It has also hosted various other sports events including rugby, tennis, golf, and basketball.

Sources & Methodology

To determine the most photographed US sports stadiums, Betway pulled together a seedlist of the most popular American football, basketball, ice hockey, and baseball stadiums.

For the most photographed Canadian sports stadiums, Betway pulled together a seedlist of the most popular ice hockey and baseball stadiums.

Instagram and TikTok hashtag data was then analysed for each stadium, using the term #{stadium name} to look at the total number of posts – and a combined total was calculated to give an overall social media score. The stadiums were then ranked by this overall total.
