Tampa Bay Rays to beat Boston Red Sox
The Sox are looking for a series sweep here after their walk-off win in extra innings on Tuesday.
Boston was swept in its opening series against the Baltimore Orioles, but has bounced back nicely against the 2020 World Series runners-up.
This is a quality pitching match-up with Nathan Eovaldi starting for Boston and Ryan Yarborough taking the mound for Tampa.
Eovaldi took a tough decision against Baltimore in his season debut, going 5.1 innings and allowing just one run and one walk in an 0-3 loss.
Yarborough also impressed in 5.2 innings against Miami, allowing no runs and no walks in a no decision as Tampa won 6-4.
The value lays with Tampa as the road team, and it’s worth backing them to claw back to .500.
Toronto Blue Jays to beat Texas Rangers
The Blue Jays lost the middle game of this series on Tuesday after a disastrous 2021 debut from Tanner Roark.
He gave up five earned runs on six hits, including three homers in just three innings before being pulled, and Toronto was unable to recover despite a late rally.
Wednesday should be a different story with Blue Jays ace Hyun-jin Ryu taking the mound for a second time this season following his no-decision outing in a 3-2 win over the Yankees on opening day.
Starting for the Rangers will be Kyle Gibson, who was unable to get out of the first inning on opening day against Kansas City, surrendering five runs in 0.1 IP in an eventual 10-14 loss.
Toronto’s offense is yet to catch fire, but there have been promising signs, including a couple of homers for Bo Bichette on Tuesday.
They should have enough to take the final game of the series to round out their opening road trip with a fourth win in six.
Los Angeles Dodgers to beat Oakland Athletics
The Dodgers are rolling, winning five straight after an opening-day defeat by Colorado.
They face an ice-cold Oakland that remain just one of two teams without a win after the first six days of the 2021 season.
LA has taken the first two games of this series with ease, winning the opener 10-3 before a vintage performance from Clayton Kershaw secured a 5-1 victory on Tuesday.
The Athletics will get little reprieve with Trevor Bauer set to start for the Dodgers. The 2020 Cy Young awardee earned his first win for LA against the Rockies last week, taking a no-hitter into the seventh and striking out 10.
Bauer will be supported by a Dodgers offense that is red-hot, ranking in the top five league-wide in average, OBP, OPS, runs and stolen bases, and in the top 10 for homers.
Despite promising lefty Jesus Luzardo starting on the mound, it’s hard to see the Athletics getting their first win of the season on Wednesday.
Miami Marlins to beat St. Louis Cardinals
The Marlins have already dropped this series after a 4-2 loss on Tuesday, but they have a good chance to secure their second win of the season in the finale.
On the mound for Miami is 25-year-old Pablo Lopez, who allowed no runs in five innings pitched on season debut against Tampa Bay.
Lopez is the No.2 starter in a Marlins rotation that has impressed to date, but has not been backed up by the bats.
Their offense may find some joy against Jack Flaherty, though. Four of their key batters have a career average over .300 against Flaherty, who gave up six runs in 4.1 innings on season debut against Cincinnati last week.
The Redbirds are the better side overall, but a value play on the Marlins looks a good bet on Wednesday.
