Boston Red Sox to beat Texas Rangers
Boston lost 4-1 in the first game of this series, but should bounce back to win on Friday.
Despite their win last time out, the Rangers are 2-5 over their last seven games, having been swept by the Chicago White Sox last week.
The Red Sox, meanwhile, are 16-9 this season and have won four of their last six, and they are an impressive 8-2 on the road so far.
Nathan Eovaldi is 3-2 this season with a 3.77 ERA, and he gets the start for Boston.
He faces Kohei Arihara, who is 2-2 with a 4.03 ERA. The Japanese right-hander is coming off his worst MLB start to date, having lasted just two innings against the White Sox last Sunday, allowing five runs on six hits and four walks.
Chicago White Sox to beat Cleveland Indians
The White Sox are coming off back-to-back wins in a double header against the Detroit Tigers, and they look a good value play the Indians on Friday.
Chicago is 8-4 at home this season, while Cleveland is 4-6 on the road so far.
The Indians have gone 4-7 over their last 11 games, including a 10-2 defeat at home against the Minnesota Twins on Wednesday.
On the mound for Cleveland will be Shane Bieber, who has made a solid start to the season with a 2.48 ERA through five starts.
He faces 2015 Cy Young winner Dallas Keuchel, who has a 4.32 ERA but has improved with each start this season. Against the Texas Rangers last time out, he pitched seven scoreless innings, allowing seven hits and no walks.
Kansas City Royals to beat Minnesota Twins
Although the Twins are coming off that 10-2 win over the Indians, they have still lost eight of their last 10 games and sit fourth in the AL Central with an 8-15 record.
Minnesota is just 3-7 at home this season and faces a tough match-up against a Kansas City team that is 7-3 on the road.
The Royals have won six of their last seven games – including a four-game sweep of the Detroit Tigers on the road – and their 15-8 record is the best in the AL.
Brady Singer will look for a third consecutive strong start for the Royals, having given up just one run and five hits across 13 innings in his last two games.
He faces Michael Pineda, who boasts an ERA of 2.42 this season but allowed four earned runs in just 4.1 innings in his last start, a loss against the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Oakland Athletics to beat Baltimore Orioles
The Athletics have surprised everyone so far this season, with their 15-10 start – including a 13-game winning streak in April – putting them top of the AL West.
The Orioles ended the A’s streak last week, but they still lost that series 2-1 and have lost five of their last seven games.
Baltimore should at least get a good start out of John Means, who is 2-0 with a 1.50 ERA this season, and gave up just one run on two hits last time out.
Oakland, meanwhile, will hand Mike Fiers his first start of the season after activating him off the injured list.
Despite their advantage on the mound, though, the Orioles are looking at a likely defeat on Friday given that their offense has averaged the second fewest runs per game in the AL this season.
