Chicago White Sox to beat Baltimore Orioles
The Orioles lost the first game of this four-game set 5-1 on Thursday, meaning they’ve now lost 10 in a row, suffering three sweeps in the process.
It’s looking bleak for them against a White Sox team that has now won three of its last four games to move to 29-20 for the season and is 17-9 at home in 2021.
Chicago will also have the pitching advantage in this match-up with Dallas Keuchel handed the start. The left-hander is 3-1 this season with a 4.28 ERA and has pitched two shutouts of at least six innings in his last six starts.
Starting for Baltimore will be Matt Harvey, who has taken the loss in each of his last four starts, giving up 23 runs in less than 14 total innings. He is now 3-5 this season with a 6.31 ERA.
Minnesota Twins to beat Kansas City Royals
After a poor start to the campaign, the Twins have started to show why many people predicted them to challenge for the World Series this season, winning six of their last seven games to climb off the bottom of the AL Central.
They won two of a three-game set against the Royals earlier this season and should win the first contest of this series as Kansas City is coming off back-to-back defeats to the Tampa Bay Rays.
Kris Bubic gets the start for the Royals. He’s started this season pretty well with two no-decisions and a 1.52 ERA, but is 0-2 in two career starts against the Twins, allowing six runs in 7.2 total innings.
He faces Minnesota right-hander Randy Dobnak, who is coming off his best performance of the season in which he pitched six scoreless innings against the Cleveland Indians, giving up just three hits and two walks.
St Louis Cardinals to beat Arizona Diamondbacks
The Cardinals look a good value play on Friday against an Arizona team that has lost 11 consecutive games to fall to 18-33 on the season.
The Diamondbacks’ offense has struggled badly during that stretch, scoring more than three runs in just one of those 11 games.
The Cardinals won the first game of this series 5-4 on Thursday and are now 15-10 at home this season, while the Diamondbacks are a dismal 9-21 on the road.
Arizona should have the advantage on the mound with Madison Bumgarner starting, although he has taken back-to-back losses and gave up seven runs on eight hits across six innings in his last start.
Starting for the St Louis will be Johan Oviedo, who hasn’t exactly been dealing either this season with an 0-2 record and 5.74 ERA across three starts.
Los Angeles Dodgers to beat San Francisco Giants
The Dodgers are 31-19 on the season after winning nine of their last 10 games, with four of those wins coming against the Giants.
LA swept a three-game road series against San Francisco last weekend and won the first of this four-game home set 4-3 on Thursday night. The Giants have now lost four of their last six to drop to third place in the NL West.
The Dodgers’ chances will be boosted further by having Walker Buehler – who is 3-0 with a 2.78 ERA this season – on the mound.
Buehler has taken the decision in each of his last two starts, going 14 innings in total and giving up just one run on seven hits.
He faces Anthony DeSclafani, who is 4-2 with a 3.54 ERA but lasted just 2.2 innings against LA last Sunday, allowing 10 runs on nine hits and three walks. He’s now taken the loss in five consecutive games against the Dodgers.
