Our tipster reveals his three best bets for Thursday's racing at Glorious Goodwood and Ffos Las.
14:25 Goodwood: Threat
I know it’s not the most original tip, but I do think Threat will win so he should be backed.
He won first time up at Newmarket in a four-runner maiden. despite going off at 10/1 for the Richard Hannon yard.
He then ran in the Coventry Stakes and came second despite not having a great passage and flying at the end of the race.
His connections opted to bypass the July Festival for a crack at this race. He’s reportedly thriving at home, so should take all of the beating.
17:20 Goodwood: Dancing Warrior
The final race on Day Three of the Goodwood Festival is a handicap sprint over five furlongs, and I’m taking a chance on Dancing Warrior.
She disappointed last time out at Windsor, where she slightly missed the break and was playing catch up on rattling fast ground.
Before that, on her seasonal reappearance, she was an eye-catching fifth at Sandown in a race that has thrown out plenty of winners since.
The combination of it being her first run of the season and a wide draw ruined her chances, but she still got to within 2¼ lentghs of the eventual winner.
As a two-year-old, she showed enough on her second start at Goodwood to go into plenty of notebooks. She duly obliged next time out at Chepstow and in a listed race in France, where she finished third.
Admittedly, the wide berth is a concern, but if that recent run has put her spot on, she could have gone under the radar.
17:35 Ffos Las: New Jack Swing
Away from Goodwood, I like the look of New Jack Swing on his handicap debut at the Welsh racecourse.
He ran a solid race first time out, finishing eighth at Windsor behind Golden Horde.
He was green that day, but moved well up until tiring in the final furlong, losing a few places close home.
On his most recent start he suffered traffic issues in running, but showed signs late on that the penny is starting to drop as he kept moving forward well until the end.
I’m expecting him to go very close off his opening mark of 59 under Fergus Sweeney on this rare ride for the Hannon yard.
