Saturday Lucky 15 racing tips

There’s plenty of competitive action to look forward to in Britain and Ireland on Saturday, with a total of eight meetings, including the top-quality action at Haydock and Musselburgh.

We are set for a bumper Saturday’s racing with a total of eight meetings scheduled across Britain and Ireland, five of those over jumps and three Flat cards.

The two principal meetings are arguably at Musselburgh and Haydock, but there is plenty of quality elsewhere, including Listed races at both Cork and Fairyhouse.

Below are our four horse racing betting tips for the day’s action.

Saturday Lucky 15 racing tips

  • 13:25 Musselburgh – Comic Hero @ 9/4

  • 15:20 Haydock – The Flier Begley @ 10/1

  • 16:02 Cork – Bucanero Fuerte @ 6/4

  • 18:20 Wolverhampton – Constant Star @ 11/10

13:25 Musselburgh – Comic Hero @ 9/4

Andrew Balding has his string well forward for the time of year, Comic Hero already having proven his wellbeing with an odds-on novice stakes win over 7f on his seasonal return at Kempton.

The three-year-old was unfortunate not to have won last year, suffering narrow defeats over 6f at Salisbury and Newbury, the latter of those by the minimum margin.

Gelded over the winter, he made the perfect start to the current campaign at Kempton and, whilst not flashy, he was always doing enough to see off subsequent winner Espanita.

He’s bred to relish this additional step up in trip and an opening mark of 78 should be within his capabilities.

15:20 Haydock – The Flier Begley @ 10/1

Gary Hanmer’s The Flier Begley has a good record at Haydock and ran well enough behind the potentially smart Hillberry Hill over hurdles at Southwell last month to suggest he’ll be capable of repeating last year’s win in the Middle Distance veterans’ Handicap Chase at Haydock.

The 11-year-old ran out a decisive six-length winner of last year’s race, taking his form figures from three runs at Haydock to 321.

He’s now 1lb below June’s Market Rasen success and is theoretically 6lb lower when taking into account Benjamin Macey’s 5lb claim.

He’ll be well suited by the drying conditions, with the gelding’s last five wins having come on ground with good in the official description.

16:02 Cork – Bucanero Fuerte @ 6/4

There have been a number of shocks in the Cork Listed Stakes in recent seasons, including the last two runnings which saw 25/1 and 28/1 winners. However, this looks a good opportunity for likely favourite Bucanero Fuerte, who sets a clear standard and has an excellent record when fresh.

The five-year-old, who is set to make his debut for Ammo’s newly-appointed Irish trainer Robson De Aguiar, enjoyed an excellent 2025, winning the Listed Sole Power Stakes at Naas over 5f and the Group 3 Phoenix Stakes The Curragh.

Third in the Group 1 Flying Five Stakes at The Curragh behind his then stablemate Arizona Blaze, he twice ran to Racing Post Ratings of 116 and fully deserves his official mark of 115.

He’s won first time out in each of his three previous seasons.

18:20 Wolverhampton – Constant Star @ 11/10

The Tom Clover-trained Constant Star shaped with plenty of promise when second on her debut over a mile at Lingfield last month and could improve markedly with that experience behind her.

The daughter of Starman, who cost £55,000 at the breeze-up sales last year, was slow to leave the stalls under Luke Morris, but was soon prominent and kept on well in the straight to split two rivals with previous experience, beaten just three-quarters of a length behind short-priced favourite, Folk Pageant.

She drops back to 7f on this occasion, but she’s bred to be speedy being a sister to a 5f winner and shouldn’t be inconvenienced.
