The Betway ambassador previews Saturday's action at Kelso and Navan.
Saturday at Kelso
The racing isn’t of the highest quality across the weekend, what with it being so close to Cheltenham, but you’ve got to say hats off to Kelso, who’ve got a cracking card for their biggest fixture of the year.
The second race on the card there is the Morebeattle Hurdle (13:50) which has great prize money up for grabs. Emmet Mullins’ McTigue will no doubt be popular, but which Emmet horse isn’t these days? He was stuffed on his last two runs, though, so I’d be looking to find something else. Sam Thomas had a good winner at Kempton last weekend and Deere Mark {ODDS:1094129354:15/2} could possibly give him another this weekend. He’s bolted up in his last two races and is still improving.
I’m not sure if this will be his day, but Tritonic {ODDS:1094129349:22/1} has been running better than his finishing position would suggest and is looking nicely handicapped now. There’s a good day in him soon.
Feronily {ODDS:1094129143:4/1} ran well behind A Dream To Share at the Dublin Racing Festival in what looks to have been the best bumper run this season. Obviously, this race (14:25) is his debut over hurdles and it’s a hot race, but there has always been plenty of talk about this horse, so he could be up to the task.
I also think that Nemean Lion {ODDS:1094129140:7/2} ran really well in the Tolworth Hurdle and will appreciate going up in trip, too.
Two horses caught my eye when they ran last time out in England and they’re both running against each other now (15:00). Nells Son {ODDS:1094130928:13/2} ran well at Cheltenham and has since had a wind-op.
Mahons Glory {ODDS:1094130927:7/1} didn’t seem to truly stay 3m in the Albert Bartlett trial last time at Doncaster, so coming back in trip should suit him too. Forecast, anyone?
Saturday at Navan
The only horse I like the look of in Ireland this weekend is Hollow Games {ODDS:1094118567:SP}. He was beaten at Christmas when some of Gordon’s didn’t perhaps run up to form. He’s clearly very good and this doesn’t look the best Flyingbolt Novice Chase (16:20) I’ve ever seen. I think he’ll get his career back on track before a tilt at Aintree or Punchestown.
