Back any player to win the Open and Betway will pay out if they lead at the end of round one. Here are Jack Green's golf tips to take advantage of the offer.

In his last three starts, Schauffele has been T13, T5 and T5 at the end of the first round, and it would be no surprise if he tops the leaderboard on Thursday at Royal St George’s.

The American is one of the most consistent players on the PGA Tour and ranks 12th in round one scoring this season.

With nine top-10 finishes in 17 major starts – including a T2 at the Open in 2018 – Schauffele regularly performs in the biggest events and has a big chance here.

The only real criticism of the 27-year-old is that he doesn’t win often enough, with just four career victories to his name, so he probably looks a better bet to take the early lead than to triumph outright.

I’ve tipped Reed each-way this week and he also looks a great first-round leader bet to take advantage of Betway’s offer.

Ranking fourth among PGA Tour players in first-round scoring this season, Reed is a consistently good starter and a strong performer in major championships.

He’s finished in the top 20 in seven consecutive majors dating back to a 10th-placed finish at the 2019 Open that’s his best performance in this event to date.

The run includes a T2 round one finish at the 2020 US Open and two consecutive round one top-10s at the Masters.

Smith was T20 after the first round at last year’s Open and T5 at the halfway point, and he looks primed for a stronger start this year.

The Australian has the lowest first-round scoring average on the PGA Tour this season, averaging 69.12 through 17 rounds.

Smith made a decent start at the Travelers Championship last time out, placing inside the top 15 after the first round, and he led at the end of Thursday’s play at the RBC Heritage earlier in the season after opening with a 62.

A first major win may be beyond the 27-year-old given that both his European Tour wins have come at the Australian PGA Championship, but he certainly looks one of the strongest contenders for the first-round lead.
