Premier League tips: A 9/1 Bet Builder for Newcastle v Liverpool

The second round of Premier League fixtures concludes with what could be a mouth-watering affair between Newcastle and Liverpool at St James' Park on Monday night.

Much of the talk in the lead up to Monday’s night’s Premier League game has been surrounding Alexander Isak, but the match itself could be one to savour.

The Swedish striker remains on the sidelines, as Newcastle stand firm on his future despite continuing links surrounding a potential move to Liverpool.

Isak was undoubtedly missed in Newcastle’s draw at Aston Villa, while Arne Slot’s men looked very open in their opening day 4-2 win over Bournemouth at Anfield.

Monday’s clash promises to be an entertaining encounter and we have a Bet Builder to consider, which could pay out at 9/1.

Newcastle v Liverpool Tips

  • Over 2.5 Goals @ 11/20
  • Anytime Goalscorer – Mohamed Salah @ 13/10
  • Player to have 2+ shots on target – Anthony Gordon @ 14/5

Pays out @ 9/1

History points to goals

For those old enough to remember the 1990s, games between these two teams have often led to goals including two 4-3 matches at Anfield during that decade.

That theme has even continued in recent years, with two or more goals in each of their last seven meetings in all competitions.

This fixture last season finished in a 3-3 draw, while the Reds won 2-0 at Anfield before Newcastle gained revenge with a 2-1 win at Wembley in the EFL Cup final.

The defending champions have scored in seven of their last eight visits to St James’ Park, which lead to three straight wins between 2021-22 and 2023-24.

Leg 1: Over 2.5 Goals @ 11/20

Salah can enjoy more success

In the last five seasons, Mohamed Salah has scored 111 league goals and collected the Golden Boot again last term.

After a disappointing display in the Community Shield defeat, Salah bounced back with the final goal in last week’s win over Bournemouth.

The Egyptian star scored twice in last season’s 3-3 draw at St James’, which were his first goals on Tyneside since finding the net in Liverpool’s 3-2 win in May 2019.

Leg 2: Anytime Goalscorer – Mohamed Salah @ 13/10

Gordon out to shine against boyhood heroes

Despite spending six years at Everton, Anthony Gordon admits to being a Liverpool fan when he was younger and has been recently linked with a move to Anfield.

The England international has enjoyed some success in recent meetings with the Reds, including scoring in last season’s draw on Tyneside.

Gordon was also on the scoresheet the previous season, only for a late Darwin Nunez double to snatch all three points for the visitors.

The Magpies forward impressed in last Saturday’s 0-0 draw, with the 24-year-old having three shots at Villa Park and being brought down in the incident that led to Ezri Konsa’s red card.

Leg 3: Player to have 2+ shots on target – Anthony Gordon @ 14/5
