Premier League Team of the Week: Gameweek 12
Premier League Team of the Week

Week 12 of the 2025/26 Premier League season witnessed plenty of goals with only four teams failing to find the back of the net across the weekend's nine fixtures.

It was a great weekend for Arsenal, as Mikel Arteta’s side took advantage of Liverpool and Manchester City losing with an impressive 4-1 home win over north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

Wolves continue to search for their first win of the campaign after a 2-0 home defeat to Crystal Palace in Rob Edwards’ first game in charge at Molineux, while Leeds United’s poor run continued as, for a second consecutive game, they squandered a one-goal lead to lose 2-1 at home to Aston Villa.

Here is our team of the week for Gameweek 12.

Goalkeeper: Matz Sels (Nottingham Forest)

Nottingham Forest’s 3-0 win at reigning Premier League champions Liverpool was one of the standout results and it’s little surprise almost half the selections in this Team of the Week play for the Tricky Trees.

Liverpool had 21 shots at goal during that game and Forest keeper Matz Sels had to deal with four of those being on target.

A superb performance from Sels to help Forest secure three massive points on Merseyside and add to Arne Slot’s woes at Anfield.

Defender: Neco Williams (Nottingham Forest)

Helping his side keep a clean sheet at Anfield and also provided an assist on Saturday, Forest’s Neco Williams also makes the cut.

A threat down the flanks and putting in a huge amount of effort, Williams is fully deserving of his place in this side.

Defender: Murillo (Nottingham Forest)

One of two Forest defenders to score a goal at Anfield, Murillo also gets the green light for this week’s top XI.

A fine goal coming from a Forest corner, Murillo used his devastating left foot to fire the ball past the helpless Alisson in the Liverpool goal.

Defender: Nicolo Savona (Nottingham Forest)

If Murillo’s goal was about power, Nicolo Savona’s goal was about finesse.

Placing the ball into the top-right corner, Savona’s strike gave Forest a two-goal cushion at Anfield, before he then helped keep the hosts at bay

Defender: Riccardo Calafiori (Arsenal)

Helping his side claim the points and bragging rights in the North London Derby, Arsenal defender Riccardo Calafiori impressed against Spurs on Sunday.

Working hard down the left flank, the Italian helped the likes of Leandro Trossard and Mikel Merino be a threat further up the field.

Midfielder: Eberechi Eze (Arsenal)

The standout player of the weekend, Gunners ace Eberechi Eze is the first name on the teamsheet for this XI.

Scoring a hat-trick in a North London Derby is something to be savoured and the former Crystal Palace star rose to the occasion against the Lilywhites at the Emirates.

Midfielder: Mikel Merino (Arsenal)

Playing further forward than his normal midfield role, Mikel Merino is also deserving of his place in this side.

Providing the assist for the important opening goal of the game, Spain international Merino continues to shine in this Gunners side, who now have a six-point lead at the top of the table.

Midfielder: Declan Rice (Arsenal)

An assured performance from Declan Rice secures the England international a place in this side.

Providing an assist for Eze’s opening goal and doing much of the grunt work in the middle of the park for Arsenal, it was a great display from Rice in a grudge match.

Midfielder: Morgan Rogers (Aston Villa)

Scoring both goals to help Aston Villa come from behind to win at Leeds, Morgan Rogers continued his excellent form after the international break.

Rogers’ free-kick was a lovely strike to get it up and over the Leeds wall from just outside the area to seal the three points in West Yorkshire.

Midfielder: Morgan Gibbs-White (Nottingham Forest)

Putting the icing on the cake with Forest’s third goal at Anfield, Morgan Gibbs-White also gains the nod.

Slotting the ball past Alisson from a rebound, it was a goal that capped off a great display from England international Gibbs-White.

Striker: Callum Wilson (West Ham)

Bagging a brace of goals against former club Bournemouth, West Ham’s Callum Wilson completes this Team of the Week.

A player who has been plagued by injury problems in recent years, Wilson looks to be getting back towards his best as he scored two first-half goals in what ended up a 2-2 draw at the Vitality Stadium.
