Everton recorded two wins from their last three games before the international break to turn around what had been a poor start to the season.

Now, they take on rivals Liverpool looking to continue their progress and they will be desperate to improve upon their poor recent record against the Reds.

Meanwhile, Jurgen Klopp’s men will be aiming to lay down a marker for the rest of the teams at the top of the table as Premier League action resumes.

Action at both ends likely

Klopp has made plenty of complaints about Liverpool’s scheduling after the international break and they once again face an early kick-off and tight turnaround for their jet setting stars.

The Reds suffered their only loss of the season in a controversial 2-1 defeat to Tottenham but had won their previous seven games in all competitions before that.

They also have a rock-solid record at home in the league, winning 12 of their last 15 Premier League matches at Anfield.

Klopp’s side have been open at the back at times, both teams have scored in seven of their eight games in the league, but their attacking talents have generally been enough to secure the victory.

Five of Everton’s last six away games in the Premier League have seen both teams find the net so side with both teams to score in this derby, although Liverpool’s forward line should be strong enough to get the victory.

The Toffees have only won one of their last 28 head-to-heads with these opponents and that wait looks set to continue.

Szoboszlai can continue to impress

Arguably the biggest positive in Liverpool’s season has been the performances of new signing Dominik Szoboszlai.

Although he has only netted once, the Hungarian has been a real standout and could get on the scoresheet again in this matchup.

The 22-year-old registered a goal and an assist for his nation against Lithuania in the international break and, with that confidence boost behind him, is a tempting price to score in the derby.

Corner count likely to be high

While the recent head-to-heads between these two have been relatively low-scoring, the way that Liverpool set up means an entertaining affair looks likely.

The Reds’ last seven games have seen three or more goals and the same is fancied in this matchup.

Expect the corner count to be high too, Liverpool have had 47 corner kicks so far this season but Everton are no slouches on that tally either, picking up 45 of their own.

Back over 2.5 goals and over 9.5 corners.

Best Bets

Liverpool to win and both teams to score @ 6/4

Dominik Szoboszlai to score at any time @ 11/4

Over 2.5 goals and over 9.5 corners @ 11/8
