Sergio Aguero, Riyad Mahrez and Leroy Sane to score
Predicting Pep Guardiola’s starting line-ups is difficult, but it is reasonable to expect that this trio will have a significant role to play in Wednesday’s game against Burton.
Aguero was rested against Rotherham on Sunday and has scored in five of his last six appearances at the Etihad Stadium. He also scored in both legs of last season’s semi-final against Bristol City.
Mahrez could play down the right given that Raheem Sterling has started twice in the last week. The Algerian scored in the 7-0 rout of Rotherham, as well as City’s first match of this EFL Cup campaign at Oxford.
Sane appeared from the bench to score on Sunday, so is another likely starter and scorer against League One opposition.
City had six different scorers in that 7-0 win, so back them to share the goals around again.
Danilo to be carded
Danilo has been carded twice this season, including against Oxford in the EFL Cup.
The Brazilian was carded seven times last season, including twice in this competition, and tops the chart for fouls per minute by all Manchester City players this term.
Jamie Allen to be carded
An opposition central midfielder has been carded in four of Manchester City’s last five matches. And with natural choice Stephen Quinn an injury doubt for this one, let’s go with guaranteed starter Jamie Allen to run into trouble against David Silva et al.
