Jurgen Klopp’s side have not yet failed to win this season, while their second-choice team – featuring Daniel Sturridge, Xherdan Shaqiri and Naby Keita, all of whom have contributed to wins in the Premier League or Champions League in the last fortnight – is likely to be sharper than Chelsea’s.

Shaqiri’s shot forced Liverpool’s first goal against Southampton, while he crashed a free-kick against the woodwork seconds before his half-time withdrawal.

Keita has not yet been carded in a Liverpool shirt, but his disciplinary record for RB Leipzig suggests that a booking is imminent.
