Discover all you need to know ahead of the 2026 Champions League final, including the date, time, and venue of the biggest game in European club football.

The 2024/25 Champions League has drawn to a close, meaning it’s already time to look ahead to the next edition of European football’s biggest competition. The tournament (as either the European Cup or Champions League) has been running for 70 years, with 23 different clubs having taken the cup home throughout its history.

With around 400 million viewers every year, the Champions League final is one of the biggest annual sporting events in the world – but when and where does the 2026 Champions League final take place? We’ll tell you all you need to know about the final, including where it’s due to be held, when you can catch all the action and who the favourites are in the Champions League betting.

What is the 2026 Champions League final date?

The Champions Leage final will be held on 30 May 2026. This falls around a week after the various domestic league seasons conclude.

The final will be contested between the winners of the two Champions League semi-finals, which take place a few weeks before the final. In the 2025 final, Paris Saint-Germain beat Inter Milan 5-0 in a game we ranked as one of the best Champions League finals ever.

What time is the Champions League final?

Viewers in the UK can watch the final live, with kick-off taking place at 8pm. A typical two-half game will run until 9:45 at the earliest, with extra time extending the match until roughly 10:30 in the event of a tie after 90 minutes.

If the score is still equal by the end of extra time, a penalty shootout will be contested after a short break. This is likely to extend the match time until 10:50-11pm.

The match will start at 9pm CEST local time for fans in the stands, lasting until anywhere from 10:45pm to midnight CEST.

Where is the Champions League final taking place?

The 2026 Champions League final will be held at the Puskas Arena in Budapest, the capital of Hungary. The all-seater stadium has a maximum capacity of 67,215 fans and has never hosted the Champions League final previously. It was the venue for the 2023 Europa League final between Sevilla and Roma.

The Puskas Arena is a relatively new stadium, with its construction taking place from 2017 and 2019. It is the home stadium of the Hungarian national team.

How can you watch the Champions League final?

UK fans can watch the 2025/26 Champions League on TNT Sports or Amazon Prime, with highlights to be shown on BBC One and available temporarily on BBC iPlayer. Broadcasters will vary for international viewers, so be sure to check your local providers.

Where and when are the upcoming Champions League finals?

We’ve covered the 2026 final, but host cities are typically decided well ahead of the matches taking place – so what will the Champions League final date be in upcoming years, and where will the big game be held?

2027: Baku or Madrid

The host city of the 2027 Champions League final is yet to be decided, but the race has narrowed to just two locations.

Azerbaijan hopes to host their first Champions League final at the 69,870 max capacity Baku Olympic Stadium – the home of their national football team and Qarabağ FK. The stadium previously held the Europa League finals in 2019, when Chelsea beat Arsenal 4-1.

Spain is also in the running, with the Metropolitano Stadium in Madrid staking its claim for the final. The venue can hold 67,000 fans, and is the home of 3-time UEFA Super Cup winners Atlético Madrid. It previously hosted the 2019 Champions League final, in which Liverpool claimed a 2-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur.

The chosen venue will earn the rights to the finals of the 2026-27 season, scheduled to take place on the 5th of June 2027.
