Reading to beat Barnsley
Reading come into this on the back of four victories in their last five league games, including a 2-1 defeat of promotion contenders Fulham last month.
The Royals have won back-to-back games at the Madejski Stadium against struggling Middlesbrough and Peterborough, and should add another three points against out-of-form opposition.
Third-bottom Barnsley are on a nine-match winless run, having lost three on the spin, while they are one of three Championship sides without a victory on the road.
Sunderland to beat Gillingham
Sunderland have won 12 of their 15 matches in all competitions this season.
Lee Johnson’s promotion contenders are just a point off the top of League One and, despite being odds-on, look a decent price here.
Gillingham have lost each of their last three matches and won two in 11, while their xG is the second-worst in League One (experimental361).
MK Dons to beat Shrewsbury
MK Dons bounced back from a shock defeat to bottom club Doncaster by beating Wycombe 2-1 in the EFL Trophy last time out and should make it back-to-back victories this weekend.
Liam Manning’s side were on an eight-match unbeaten run prior to that defeat, and their only other loss this season came against Sunderland in August.
Second-bottom Shrewsbury have lost three straight league games and managed just two victories all season.
Tranmere to beat Carlisle
Tranmere’s 2-0 victory away to Colchester last Friday was their third in a row in all competitions and fifth in six matches.
Micky Mellon’s side also have the meanest defence in League Two, having conceded just four goals in 11 matches.
Third-bottom Carlisle sacked manager Chris Beech in midweek following a run of four league defeats in five matches, the latter three without scoring.
Forest Green to beat Scunthorpe
Bottom-of-the-league Scunthorpe are in a sorry state and were thumped 6-1 away to Harrogate last weekend.
That was the Iron’s fourth straight defeat in all competitions and seventh match without victory.
The visit of table toppers Forest Green is unlikely to provide any relief, given that they have won four and drawn one of their five away games in the league.
