EFL football tips for New Year’s Day Sunday 01 01 23

Back Adam Drury's 52/1 five-fold from the New Year's Day action in the Championship, League One and League Two.

Here are Adam Drurys New Year’s Day football tips.

Sunderland to beat Blackpool

Blackpool are second-bottom of the Championship after losing five and drawing three of their last eight games.

Michael Appleton’s job could be under serious threat if they lose here, which a record of three defeats and one goal in four home games suggests they could.

Sunderland are in terrific form, winning four of their last six games. Striker Ross Stewart has scored in three straight matches since his return from injury.

Oxford to beat Exeter

Oxford are creeping into the League One promotion race after only losing to table-toppers Ipswich in their last 10 matches.

Karl Robinson’s side have won three of their last four home games by 4-0, 4-1 and 3-1 scorelines.

Exeter won a dramatic match 4-3 at Bristol Rovers on Thursday, but had only taken three points in their five previous games.

Swindon to beat Colchester

Fifth plays third-bottom here, so getting an odds-against price on the better side to win looks like solid value.

Swindon have won both of their last two away games and have only been beaten three times in 11 on the road.

Colchester have lost five of their last seven league games, including at home to AFC Wimbledon on Thursday.

Carlisle to beat Doncaster

Carlisle are fourth in League Two after winning both of their last two matches to nil.

The Cumbrians have won five of their last eight league games, only losing at Stockport and Northampton.

In their last eight league home games, Doncaster have beaten three bottom-five teams and taken one point from the other five.

Stockport to beat Grimsby

Stockport look like the class team in League Two at the moment, winning seven of their last nine league games.

They have won three straight League Two matches by 5-0, 2-0 and 2-0 scorelines and take on out-of-form opposition.

Grimsby have lost six of their last eight league games, including their last two by 3-2 and 4-1 scorelines, and sit 20th in the League Two home table.
