Hart on Darts: Chizzy to edge a nervy relegation 2 pointer

Betway's head trader gives us his call on a record-breaking week 7 in the Betway Premier League

A Betway Premier League Darts record will be smashed tonight, as nearly 11,000 people pack out the First Direct Arena to see the best darts players compete in Week 7.

Dave Chisnall v Simon Whitlock

A relegation 2 pointer, 8th takes on 10th with Whitlock and Chisnall both desperate for the win. The Wizard is in serious trouble rooted to the foot of the table with only 2 points, and it looks to be a case of now or never for the Aussie with only 3 games to go before the bottom two are relegated. With only one win so far this season, I can’t see Whitlock getting out if this one. Chisnall to win, but a close game with both players nervy.

Dave Chisnall to win – 5/4

Dave Chisnall to win 7-5 – 15/2

Robert Thornton v Adrian Lewis

The Thorn is another player not out of trouble yet. If Chisnall wins the early match, Thornton will be dragged right back into the mire. The Scot will need at least a point tonight, but faces an unforgiving Adrian Lewis who was clinical when necessary to eke out the win last week. Both players have a good pedigree going into this match but I fancy Jackpot to keep his playoff push going with a win tonight.

Adrian Lewis to win – 4/5

Adrian Lewis to win 7-4 – 7/1

Gary Anderson v Michael van Gerwen

Sitting mid-table on 6 points, I simply can’t see anything other than a drubbing for Gary Anderson tonight. Van Gerwen’s 7-1 demolition of Wes Newton last week showed a player in a confident, ruthless mood and is, other than Peter Wright, the player to beat. Mighty Mike to win comfortably.

Michael van Gerwen to win – 1/2

Michael van Gerwen to win 7-2 – 7/1

Wes Newton v Phil Taylor

The player embarrassed by van Gerwen last week faces a player also struggling for form, but perhaps whose star is once more on the rise. Taylor could move out of the bottom two for the first time this season with a win tonight, and I fancy him to do it. I don’t think he will storm it though as he hasn’t showed much consistency in his doubles all season long. I predict a narrow but much needed consecutive victory for The Power.

Phil Taylor to win – 9/20

Phil Taylor to win 7-4 – 6/1

Peter Wright v Raymond van Barneveld

Saving the best for last, the final match of the night is a mouth-watering clash between 1st and 3rd. Peter ‘Snakebite’ Wright has been the life and soul of the Premier League this season, combining an outrageous dress sense with a calm, devastating throwing arm. He will have a job on his hands this week containing Barney, who has been a dark horse this season – winning quietly and consistently. Smart money would be on Wright to edge it, but there may not be enough to separate these two.

Peter Wright to win – 6/5

Draw – 4/1

One thing is for certain, it’s sure to be a great night up North!
