Week Eleven. Did you know there are over 30 places named Aberdeen throughout the world? But this week there’s only one that matters. Scotland’s third most populous city is home to the GE Oil & Gas Arena and the eleventh stop in the Betway Premier League. It may be on the smaller side compared to some of the larger arenas on the tour, but as it proved last year, it simply means the noise will be even louder.

Phil Taylor and Stephen Bunting play twice tonight and both are in need of wins if they look to move off the bottom of the table in time for the Playoffs. They succumbed to Dutchmen Raymond van Barneveld and Michael van Gerwen respectively, who themselves face off this Thursday in another mouth-watering matchup.

But if the two Englishmen needed an example of how to take advantage of a double match night, then look no further than Dave Chisnall last week. The St Helens thrower steamrollered both James Wade and Gary Anderson in emphatic fashion to go within just a point of the unbeaten league leader MVG.

Betway Premier League Rewind: Last year in Aberdeen…

The highlight of last year’s meeting in Aberdeen saw rivals Michael van Gerwen and Phil Taylor go head-to-head. The Power came up trumps with a 7-4 win, but the Dutchman had a chance to redeem himself at the end of the night against Adrian Lewis and he took it, winning himself 7-4.

It was a mixed night of fortunes for the three remaining Scots in the competition. Gary Anderson lifted the home crowd by inflicting defeat on Lewis (his first of the night). But Peter Wright and Robert Thornton couldn’t keep the momentum up for the Tartan masses, losing 7-4 and 7-1 respectively.

Full results:

Gary Anderson 7-4 Adrian Lewis

Michael van Gerwen 4-7 Phil Taylor

Peter Wright 4-7 Dave Chisnall

Robert Thornton 1-7 Raymond van Barneveld

Michael van Gerwen 7-4 Adrian Lewis
