England top 1st innings bowler: Stuart Broad – {ODDS:276811287:11/4}
At the end of a disappointing winter, Broad’s return to form in the last Test in New Zealand in March was one of England’s few positives.
The paceman took eight wickets in the second Test of that series, and has taken 14 in three matches for Nottinghamshire at the start of this County Championship season.
Broad has been a streaky bowler throughout his career, so is a good bet to take advantage of his current form.
Pakistan top 1st innings bowler: Mohammad Amir – {ODDS:276811311:9/4}
Alastair Cook’s weakness against left-arm pace gives Amir every chance of getting his series off to a good start at Lord’s.
After he took five wickets in bowler-friendly conditions in last week’s Test match against Ireland, an early wicket could get the bowler England fear most on a roll.
1st innings: Under 399.5 runs – {ODDS:277984727:4/6}
Since July 2014, only five of 28 Test innings at Lord’s have passed this mark.
Of nine innings at the same venue in the County Championship this season only one has reached 400, while there is little doubt that each team’s bowling looks stronger than its batting.
Alastair Cook 1st innings runs: Under 28.5 – {ODDS:276811248:5/6}
Cook has passed this mark in just three of his last 17 Test innings, and not in his first Test innings of a home summer since 2013.
Left-armer Trent Boult took his wicket in all of his four innings in New Zealand in March, and Mohammad Amir and Rahat Ali can extend that trend.
