England can gain some credit from their tour of Australia by extending a run of 15 wins from 18 ODIs.
Their emphatic dismantling of Steve Smith’s side in the Champions Trophy laid a good marker for what they are capable of here.
Jason Roy to score over 29.5 runs – {ODDS:227751387:11/8}
A quiet stint in the Big Bash has, at least, acclimatised Roy to Australian conditions that should suit his game in the long-term.
And after finishing a poor summer on a bright note with scores of 84 and 96 against the West Indies in September, he is a good bet to score heavily here, particularly with Ben Stokes absent and Joe Root ill.
A knock of 40 in the warm-up match against a Cricket Australia XI was a good start.
Adil Rashid to take over 1.5 wickets – {ODDS:227749329:6/4}
Rashid is England’s leading wicket-taker since the 2015 World Cup and will be vital in taking regular middle-order wickets during this series.
Having managed over 1.5 wickets in half of his ODIs last year, including four against Australia in the Champions Trophy, he can bring a dimension to England’s ODI side that their Test team dearly lacked.
Steve Smith to score a half-century – {ODDS:227751388:13/8}
Smith passed 50 in five of his seven Ashes innings, including twice at the MCG, and has done the same in five of his last 12 ODIs.
England often struggle to take wickets in the middle of the innings, and the Australian captain is in the sort of form to take full advantage.
