New research shows the most Halloween obsessed cities in the U.S. and Canada.
With Halloween on the horizon, online casino Betway wanted to uncover which cities across North America are most excited for the spooky season. Every October, streets fill with carved pumpkins and homes transform into haunted houses.
But while the spirit of Halloween touches every corner of the country, some cities embrace it more passionately than others. From glowing jack-o’-lanterns on front porches to ghost tours, themed parties and costume parades, the Halloween season offers endless ways to celebrate.
Using social media data and search trends, we therefore set out to discover where people are talking most positively about this haunting holiday:

Orlando, Florida, ranks as the most Halloween-obsessed city in the United States, with 51% of online conversations about the holiday marked as positive. It’s the only city where there are more positive conversations about Halloween than negative, making it the perfect place for those who can’t get enough of costumes and pumpkin carving.
Considerable search volume for keywords such as “costumes,” and “Halloween” cements Orlando’s position as the spookiest city in the country.
Cleveland, Ohio, comes in second place with a Spooky Score of 78.10, followed by Salt Lake City, Utah, in third with a final score of 66.78. Completing the top four is Baltimore, Maryland, where a positive sentiment score of 44.91% earned the city an overall Spooky Score of 66.38.
Texas is the most represented state in the top fifteen, with Ft. Worth (44%), San Antonio (42.80%), and Plano (42.13%) all showing a strong enthusiasm for Halloween and its many traditions.
Ohio is the only other state to appear more than once in the rankings. Alongside Cleveland, Cincinnati also features in the top fifteen, ranking eleventh overall with a positive percentage of 42.30%, translating to a Spooky Score of 51.94.

Winnipeg, meanwhile, is the Canadian City most excited for Halloween. Although less excited than any of the top fifteen U.S. cities, the Manitoba city has a positivity percentage of 36.54% for online conversations about all things Halloween.
Halifax places as the runner up with a Spooky Score of 66.39, followed by Quebec (66.22), Ottawa (66.01) and then Toronto (64.69). Vancouver finishes outside the top five with a modest score of just 58.82 because of its low positive sentiment percentage of 30%.
Whether you’re carving pumpkins or attending spooky parties, one thing’s certain: North America loves Halloween. And if you live in Orlando, you’re officially at the heart of the continent’s Halloween spirit.
Methodology
Social media conversations including the keywords “Halloween,” “Costumes,” “Ghosts,” “Pumpkin,” “Witch,” and “Zombie” were analysed by Brandwatch.
Posts were categorized as positive, neutral, or negative, and neutral mentions were removed before calculating the percentage of positive conversations. These percentages were then used to rank the cities most excited about Halloween, with results converted into normalized Spooky Scores for easy comparison.
All data is correct as of October 10th, 2025, and reflects online conversations from the previous 30 days.
