With areas surrounding iconic locations such as Yosemite and the Grand Canyon, America is full of camping spots with the most aesthetic views. North of the border, it’s more of the same with Canada being home to many picturesque provincial parks including Algonquin.
But which underrated camping spots in the US & Canada have the most attractive views? Well, to find out, online casino Betway analysed data from Instagram, TikTok and AllTrails.

Taking top spot as America’s most underrated camping spot with an impressive score of 98.3 was Red River Gorge.
The Kentucky location led the way when it came to both hashtagged posts on Instagram (260,000) and pictures on AllTrails (318,201). When looking at TikTok, the Red River Gorge boasted 22,800 posts – the second most out of locations in this study.
The only location to have more hashtagged posts on TikTok than Red River Gorge was Hocking Hills State Park.
A whopping 33,200 TikToks had been made about the Ohio park which contributed heavily to the spot’s final score of 93.9. In addition to this, Hocking Hills had 224,414 images on AllTrails which was the second highest in this regard.
Rounding off the top three most underrated camping spots in the USA was Smith Rock State Park. The park, which is in Oregon, scored 91.4 thanks to 148,000 Instagram posts and 147,894 images on AllTrails.

When looking at Canada’s hidden gems, there was a clear winner.
In the foothills of Alberta’s Canadian Rockies, Kananaskis Country has accumulated 201,000 Instagram posts, 10,100 TikTok posts and a whopping 458,565 images of the spot have been uploaded to AllTrails.
Kananaskis Country had a perfect score of 100 after it led Canada’s underrated camping spots in all three categories. It wasn’t the only Alberta location included in the rankings either. Located 220 kilometres east of Calgary, Dinosaur Provincial Park, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, ranked fourth overall with a score of 83.5.
The only underrated Canadian camping spot to score nearly as well as Kananaskis Country was New Brunswick’s Fundy National Park, which finished second in all categories.
So, there are our most beautiful and underrated camping spots in America and Canada. Sure, Yosemite, Yellowstone and the Grand Canyon are stunning in their own rights, but if you want to camp at a true hidden gem of a location, it might be worth taking note of this ranking before you pitch your tents or park your vans. Methodology
Using desk research, we gathered slightly lesser-known camping spots in both the USA and Canada. We then scored each spot on the following metrics:
Number of hashtagged Instagram posts
Number of hashtagged TikTok posts
Number of pictures on AllTrails
Each spot was then given a normalised score out of 100 based on how well it performed in the metrics above.
