Busy day on the NFL front, led by a story that QB Aaron Rodgers is set to return to the Steelers. What about betting futures?
There’s plenty of NFL news today that will no doubt impact Super Bowl betting futures.
The big headline was an ESPN story saying that quarterback Aaron Rodgers is set to return to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Rodgers is 42, and worked in seamlessly with the Steelers last season, leading them to a 10-6 record in 16 starts, tossing 24 touchdowns off a 65.7% pass completion rate.
His return to Pittsburgh would mean a reunion with coach Mike McCarthy, who was named head coach, taking over from Mike Tomlin.
Rodgers played under McCarthy for 13 seasons with the Green Bay Packers, where he won two of his four MVP awards and one Super Bowl.
The New York Jets announced that running back Breece Hall has agreed to a three-year, $45.75 million contract today, after the organization had given him the franchise tag in February. Hall cracked 1,000 yards last season – 1,065, on 243 carries, for a 4.4-yard average and four touchdowns.
The NFL announced today it will release its complete schedule this Thursday. The league has already announced an international game Sept. 10 in Week 1 between the San Francisco 49ers and the L.A. Rams in Melbourne, Australia.
Another international game between the Baltimore Ravens and Dallas Cowboys will take place in Week 3, Sept. 27.
The NFL will be announcing the other seven international matchups this Wednesday at 9 a.m. on Good Morning Football on the NFL Network.
The NFL Referees Association announced today they’ve ratified a new 7-year collective bargaining agreement with the NFL, shutting down any possibility of a work stoppage prior to the NFL season.
In NFL betting, the Los Angeles Rams are the betting favorites, on Betway, at +700, followed by the Seattle Seahawks at +850, the Buffalo Bills at +1000, the Baltimore Ravens at +1100, and the Detroit Lions at +1600.
The Steelers are a long shot at +5000, with the Jets a distanced +20000.
What about the Bills? It’s been a busy off-season, marked on offence by the trade for wide receiver DJ Moore, the re-signing of center Connor McGovern, then choosing a young receiver in the fourth round of the NFL Draft last month in Skyler Bell.
In the draft, though, the Bills used the bulk of their picks adding new faces for the defence, under new defensive coordinator Jim Leonhard, after Joe Brady was promoted to head coach. The team used seven of their 10 picks on defensive players.
Leonhard is transitioning the offence to a 3-4-based system. The Bills have been focused on getting younger, and more versatile up front – a more defensive-line rotation, bigger front-seven personnel, and hybrid safeties/corners.
Linebacker Matt Milano, cornerback Tre’Davious White, and defensive ends Joey Bosa and AJ Epenesa, all with the team last year, remain unsigned.
In the draft, they added edge rusher T.J. Parker, who is expected to step right in. There are reports the Bills are still active, scouring the market for more pass-rush depth.
Buffalo moved up in the draft to take Ohio State cornerback Davison Igbinosun at No. 62 and another cornerback, Missouri’s Toriano Pride Jr., in the seventh round.
The Bills had a good, but not great defence, in 2025, ranked seventh in the NFL at 293.1 yards allowed per game, but were leaky against the run – fifth from the bottom, at 136.2 rushing yards per game.
Right now, a look at the depth chart shows Sanders at LDE, Deone Walker at NT, Ed Oliver at RDE, Greg Rousseau at WLB, Dorian Williams at LILB, Terrel Bernard at RILB.
A big free agent signing was SLB linebacker Bradley Chubb, with 24 solo tackles last season, and 8.5 sacks (tied for 20th in the NFL), and two forced fumbles, as a member of the Miami Dolphins.
Bills quarterback Josh Allen is the betting favourite for regular season MVP at Betway, at +550, followed by Ravens’ QB Lamar Jackson (+700), and New England Patriots’ QB Drake Maye, at +800.
