WNBA Picks: Lynx Heavy Favourites as Tempo Face Brutal Post-All-Star Test

Minnesota enters on a seven-game win streak with championship momentum as Toronto battles injuries and a difficult road matchup

The WNBA starts the post-All-Star break part of the schedule tonight, and for the Toronto Tempo, it’s a tough draw.

The Tempo (10-16) is in Minneapolis to take on the Minnesota Lynx (22-6) at Target Center, starting at 8 p.m. EST.

The Lynx have seen the biggest line movement to win the championship — for good reason — and are generating the most betting action in both tickets and handle at sportsbooks.

In basketball betting at Betway, the Moneyline is off the charts. The Lynx are -1600, the Tempo +800. The Spread is Minnesota -15.5 (-115), Toronto +15.5 (-105). The Total is 185.5 (Over -115, Under -105).

So, it’s going to be a bloodbath, and everyone, including oddsmakers, knows it.

The Lynx have an elite coach in Cheryl Reeve, constantly producing teams that are among the league’s best defensively, maximizing role players, getting everyone to buy in. The Lynx rotate quickly and rarely give up easy shots.

Napheesa Collier is one of the NBA’s top two-way players, leading a core group that has plenty of experience with deep playoff runs. There’s depth right across the roster, with players like Kayla McBride, Courtney Williams and Natasha Howard all carrying their share of the offence at different times. The Lynx have four WNBA titles under their belt.

The Lynx, 2.5 games up on the Golden State Valkyries in the Western Conference, are clear betting favorites at Betway to win another title this year, at +130.

For sports bettors, take the Minnesota spread. This will be a blowout at home for the Lynx. Minnesota is on a seven-game win streak; they’re healthy, and they’re 10-4 at home. The Tempo are 4-6 on the road, and losers of three straight going into tonight’s match.

Toronto also has backcourt injuries. Guard Brittney Sykes, guard Kiki Rice, forward Isabelle Harrison and forward Nyara Sabally are all out or questionable for tonight.

Also, take that 185.5 Over, at -115. Both teams play at a pace that pushes up the score. Over that seven-game winning streak, the Lynx have averaged around 95 points. In their last three loss the Tempo have given up an average of 99.6 points.

Toronto’s interior defence is a problem, and as the focal point of the offence, Collier is primed for a big night.

She’s -120 to score 20+ points at Betway, and +220 to score 25+ points. Toronto’s best player, Marina Mabrey, is -165 to score 20+ points, and +185 to score 25+ points.
