Using results from the quiz website Sporcle, we analyzed retired and active players across the NBA and NHL. The data found that Celtics’ John Havlicek was the most forgotten retired NBA player whereas Alexander Ovechkin takes the lead for the NHL.

  1. Michael Jordan (98.10%): There’s a reason most fans call him GOAT. Jordan’s dominance, charisma, and numerous championships have solidified his place in history.

  3. LeBron James (95.70%): A generational talent and four-time NBA champion, James’ longevity and consistent excellence have made him one of the most recognizable athletes of all time.

  7. Dennis Rodman (93.20%): A defensive powerhouse and colorful personality, Rodman’s rebounding prowess and eccentric behavior made him a fan favorite.

  8. Yao Ming (91.20%): As the first Chinese player to be drafted first overall, Yao’s immense size and skill captivated fans worldwide.

  9. Kevin Garnett (90.80%): A defensive stalwart and emotional leader, Garnett’s intensity and passion made him one of the most recognizable players of his generation.

Players were ranked in order of the percentage of participants who failed to correctly name them in their answers during the period provided.
