Each-way Cheltenham tips for day two
Turners Novices’ Hurdle (13:20)
No Drama This End finds himself at the top of the market after his Challow success at Newbury but the horse who was just over a length behind him, KLIMT MADRIK / , looks overpriced and is worth chancing. The six-year-old kept on well for second in the Challow and was closing on No Drama This End all the way to the line in that contest, an effort worth marking up given that he had a lot of ground to make up in a slowly run race. This is likely to be run at a decent clip with several of this field sure to go forward and that should help this habitual hold-up performer. This slightly longer trip with the stiff Cheltenham finish should also suit him and he is still completely unexposed having just his fourth start over timber.

Brown Advisory Novices’ Chase (14:00)
The Brown Advisory is run over slightly further this year, with one extra fence to facilitate an easier start, which will be a big help as this renewal has attracted a field of 16. After Final Demand’s blowout at the DRF, the key line of form could well prove to be last year’s Albert Bartlett, where THE BIG WESTERNER / finished second and Wendigo, who met considerable interference, was fifth. Both have chances, but preference goes to The Big Westerner, who has always looked the type to progress over fences, such is her imposing physique. She took the scalp of Jade De Grugy at Limerick over Christmas, and the step up in trip looks certain to be within her compass. Any rain from Tuesday overnight into Wednesday will be a help, as cut in the ground would be a plus. If she is withdrawn due to the ground, then Wendigo would be the back‑up.

JINGKO BLUE / may be the second-string on jockey bookings for Nicky Henderson but he looks capable of outrunning his double figure price. The seven-year-old achieved a smart level of form over fences last season, winning a Grade 2 novice at Windsor before unseating early and losing his unbeaten record over the larger obstacles at Ascot. Connections have opted to send him back over timber since and he came on markedly from his reappearance to finish runner-up in the Relkeel Hurdle at Cheltenham on New Year’s Day. Back in a handicap off a mark of 144, he looks well treated in a race that does not look like the strongest recent renewal we have had.

Now a handicap, the Cross Country has a slightly lopsided look to it, and hopefully Stumptown has ensured an ideal weight for stable companion VANILLIER / . Placed in a Grand National, it was somewhat ironic that he lost his chance in this last year by going very wide at the Aintree fence—his rider seeming not to anticipate the Canal Turn‑style bend—and he did well to finish third. Despite winning over the Banks at Punchestown last time, beating The Goffer, he lines up off a lower mark than last year and can deny chief danger Favori De Champdou.

Queen Mother Champion Chase (16:00)
Another of this season’s standout efforts over two miles came from L’EAU DU SUD / in the Shloer Chase at Cheltenham in November when he torched Jonbon by 15 lengths on his seasonal return.
At that point he was 4-6 over fences and he was only beaten a length-and-a-half in the Arkle at Prestbury Park last season.
Things did not go his way in the Tingle Creek but he has been kept fresh since and typically goes well off a break.
He was second in the 2024 County Hurdle at this course and is 2-3 over fences either side of that Arkle fourth.
Drying ground favours him and the Skelton team have been waiting for this day. If the top Irish pair do not perform over the jumps, he will pick up the pieces and his own very positive fencing ability could add more pressure to Majborough’s jumping.
