New data from Betway reveals which regions of the UK have produced the most millionaires per 100k population based on previous winners.
The People’s Postcode Lottery is one of the UK’s most unique games of chance—where your address, not your lucky numbers, could lead to a life-changing win. The team here at online casino Betway analysed which regions of the UK have produced the most millionaires per 100k population based on previous winners.
The table below shows the results:

Wales sits in second place for the highest number of millionaires per 100,000, and Scotland rounds out the top three, with both countries producing just under 13 millionaires per population.
Claiming the winnings
In an exclusive interview, Betway spoke to a Postcode Lottery representative to answer some of the most frequently asked questions—ranging from how quickly winners receive their money, to whether there’s a deadline to claim, and if the taxman takes a cut.
Here is what they had to say:
“Cash prize winners will receive their winnings within 28 days from the date their winning postcode is announced, and all cash prizes are paid in a lump sum.
“Winners of prize vouchers and e-gift cards will be notified by email when their postcode is announced. This email includes instructions on how to redeem their prize.
“We always contact our winners—there’s no need to actively claim, and all lottery winnings are tax-free in Great Britain.
“For major wins like the weekly £1 Million prize, £250,000 prize, or the Postcode Millions, we’ll call or write to the winner.
“We’ll always contact winners directly. Before sharing any sensitive information, we’ll ask two security questions to confirm the winner’s identity.
“Importantly, we will never ask for sensitive banking details such as your card number or PIN.”
