North America is home to thousands of cake shops and bakeries, but a select group stands out above the rest thanks to their online popularity, strong customer reviews and high search interest.

Visiting these cake shops has become a popular activity in recent times, with views, vibes and decorations all considered important parts of the experience to a changing audience.

By comparing TripAdvisor scores, Instagram and TikTok followings and Google search volume, analysis from online live casino Betway reveals the ten most sought-after cake shops in the United States and Canada – ranked by their final indexed score out of 100.

Below is the list of the top ten most picturesque bakeries in the U.S. and their final scores.

New York City claims two spots on the list, demonstrating its strong influence on the national bakery scene. Magnolia Bakery ranks first overall with an enormous digital footprint – one million Instagram followers and more than 212,000 TikTok followers – combined with a search volume of 165,000.

Meanwhile, Levain Bakery, also located in New York City, earns fourth place with a final score of 47.70, driven by its 4.7 TripAdvisor rating and substantial online following of 639,000 Instagram fans.

In second place, Porto’s Bakery & Cafe in Glendale stands out with one of the highest search volumes in the ranking at 450,000, paired with nearly half a million Instagram followers. These factors contribute to its impressive final score of 93.53.

Nothing Bundt Cakes in Las Vegas secures third place thanks to a huge social media presence – 700,000 Instagram followers and 104,000 TikTok followers – combined with a strong 4.8 TripAdvisor rating. Its widespread brand recognition as a picturesque cake shop drives its final score of 84.83.

Beyond the major names, several standout independent bakeries make the list. Barrio Bread in Tucson ranks fifth with a perfect 5.0 TripAdvisor score and steadily growing fanbase. Fillings & Emulsions in Salt Lake City follows in sixth, also boasting a near flawless TripAdvisor rating and strong engagement across platforms.

Defloured in Chicago ranks seventh with a perfect 5.0 rating and consistent search interest, while The Cakery in St. Louis places eighth with a final score of 44.38.

Rounding out the list, Tartine Bakery in San Francisco earns ninth place with a sizable Instagram audience of 477,000, while Ayu Bakehouse in Jacksonville takes tenth thanks to its excellent 4.9 TripAdvisor rating and growing regional presence.

Meanwhile in Canada, Toronto provides four of the country’s ten best cake shops:

Toronto leads the list with Roselle Desserts, the top Canadian cake shop with a final score of 97.43, thanks to high reviews, 40,000 Instagram followers and strong search interest. The city is also home to Daan Go Cake Toronto (51.99), The Dessert Lady (47.11) and Crust Bakery Toronto (27.11).

Vancouver features three well-loved bakeries, starting with Beaucoup Bakery at 63.50, supported by strong Instagram engagement. Butter Baked Goods follows closely with a score of 61.22, boosted by a notable TikTok presence, while Crust Bakery Vancouver scores 32.32 with excellent reviews and steady search interest.

Edmonton’s standout is Duchess Bake Shop, earning 62.53 through high ratings and strong social engagement.

Calgary is represented by Manuel Latruwe, which scores 49.69 with strong customer feedback and good search performance.

Ottawa appears on the list with Three Tarts, scoring 47.38 and praised for reliability and strong TripAdvisor reviews.

Methodology

The top cake shops in North America were identified by analysing multiple articles, lists and rankings.

Each shop on the list was then ranked by combining factors including TripAdvisor score, Instagram followers, TikTok followers and average Google search volume.

Each shop was then given a normalised score out of 100 based on their performance in the metrics above and ranked from highest to lowest.
