Volkanovski v Holloway odds:

The co-main event of UFC 251 is a keenly-awaited rematch for the featherweight title, as Max Holloway attempts to wrestle back his belt from conqueror Alexander 'The Great' Volkanovski.

Should Holloway manage to become a two-time champion, there can be little doubting his status as the greatest of all time at 145lb.

Standing in his way is Volkanovski, the latest star on the conveyor belt of talent coming out of Australia and New Zealand.

‘The Great’ cemented his meteoric rise up the featherweight rankings with a unanimous decision victory over Holloway in their first meeting in December, and is priced up as favourite to defend his title on Saturday.

Holloway, who defended his belt three times over two-and-a-half years, heads to Fight Island as underdog to regain his title.

Volkanovski v Holloway prediction:

The first fight saw Volkanovski wear Holloway down with a storm of leg-kicks while keeping him honest up top with his heavy hands.

Holloway’s famed cardio saw him come on strong in the championship rounds, but it was too little too late as Volkanovski secured the win on points.

If Holloway is to win this rematch, that volume will need to be maintained over all five rounds – Volkanovski has only been stopped once before, and that was all the way back in May 2013.

In fact, that was the only loss of Volkanovski’s career to date, with his record standing at 21-1.

Holloway has dropped two of his last three, with the Hawaiian taking serious damage across both fights.

This is not to rule him out, but it does feel as though his powers are waning after so many years at the top.

Volkanovski, meanwhile, looks totally motivated to defend his title for years to come, and it’s worth backing this fight to follow a similar pattern to the last with the champion to win by decision at .

The Aussie has won three of his last five on the judges’ scorecards, while Holloway has dropped two of his last three in the same fashion.
