2/5 - Serena Williams to beat Angelique Kerber 2-0

Four months ago at the US Open, history beckoned for Serena Williams.

Chasing the 'golden slam' of all four majora, Serena blew her chance when she suffered a giant-killing at the hands of Roberta Vinci.

Do not expect another shock for the American on Saturday, however.

After taking months away from the sport following the loss there were doubts surrounding Williams ahead of Melbourne.

The 21-time Grand Slam champion has comprehensively dispelled any worries about her fitness with a serene march to the final.

12 sets played, 12 sets won makes sweet reading for Serena fans.

Her surprise opponent in the final, Angelique Kerber, may just have to be content with reaching the showpiece event in Melbourne.

Despite pulling off some upsets this week in the first Slam of the year, Kerber has traditionally suffered against top 10 players, winning under 30 per cent of the time against elite opposition.

Against Williams her record is even more miserable.

The German has lost five of six matches, and, ominously, these five losses have all been in straight sets.

In her illustrious career Serena Williams has won five Grand Slams without dropping a set.

Back her to make that six on Saturday.
