TOP PICK: COMPAS SCOOBIE
Second choice: Shamshon
A handicap sprint down the middle of Sandown’s golf course. The draw is sometimes significant, but the good-to-soft ground adds another variable. On balance, a middle draw looks best.
There hasn’t been a winning favourite of this race in the last decade. COMPAS SCOOBIE has been knocking on the door of late in decent handicaps and ran reasonably well on his sole start at this track. He may be given most to do by Shamshon.

TOP PICK: ARCANDA
Second choice: Muntadab
A handicap around the tight bends of the Roodee. Only one clear favourite has won this race in the last 10 years. The winning roll call also includes winners at prices all the way up to 40/1.
ARCANDA has lost his way a little over the summer after racking up a quick hat-trick earlier in the season on the all-weather. It’s interesting that five of his seven wins involve racing around tight bends, including twice at this track. Hayley Turner takes the ride and this horse looks great value to play a part in a competitive heat.

TOP PICK: MIRZA
Second choice: Final Venture
Low draws have historically been very important in this race with nine of the last ten winners coming from stalls 1 to 4. Nine of the last 10 winners have been under 11/1, so we probably need to focus on the head of the market.
MIRZA hasn’t won for a long while and is getting on a bit, but the cards could have fallen right for a final swansong.

TOP PICK: ARTHUR KITT
Second choice: Too Darn Hot
A Group 3 with a small but select field. Too Darn Hot was impressive on debut and will be a worthy favourite.
However, I think it’s worth chancing the unbeaten ARTHUR KITT. His win at Ascot was very impressive last time out and he looks capable of improving on that.
