Penalty to be awarded

This has been a World Cup dominated by penalties, with VAR having a significant influence.

Both of these sides were awarded spot-kicks in their opening matches, albeit with mixed results.

Antoine Griezmann to score –

Griezmann scored his, notching his seventh goal in his last seven tournament matches.

With Olivier Giroud likely to return to Les Bleus’ starting line-up, the Atletico Madrid forward will have even more freedom to find space among a Peru defence that went largely untested against Denmark.

Peru to score –

Peru have been the unluckiest losers so far, going down 1-0 to Denmark despite a stirring performance that deserved far more.

Forwards Christian Cueva and Andre Carillo particularly impressed, and a similar effort should produce at least one goal against a side that has conceded to Russia, USA and Australia in their last five matches.

Renato Tapia to be carded -

Tapia’s yellow card against Denmark was his second in three internationals, and his fifth in nine competitive matches for his country.

Only five players were booked more often in CONMEBOL World Cup qualifying, while an opposition midfielder has been carded in France’s last four games.

Under 1.5 France cards -

France have not picked up more than one card in any of their last 11 matches, so it is certainly worth backing that run to continue in this one.

Only six teams picked up fewer cards in UEFA World Cup qualifying than Didier Deschamps’ side.
