Wednesday Betting Guide: Our writers' 6 best football tips
We've compiled our writers’ best football tips, including win/draw/win and BTTS, into one bite-size betting preview for Wednesday's matches.
Athletic Bilbao to win or draw v Leganes & BTTS: No (18:00)
League leaders Athletic Bilbao have won three and drawn two of their first five matches, including a 1-0 victory over Barcelona on the opening day.
They have kept four clean sheets during that run, but draws in both their away games mean you are better off covering yourself with the double-chance market.
Leganes are bottom of the table after earning their first point of the season with a 1-1 draw away to crisis club Valencia last Sunday.
Angers to beat Toulouse (18:00)
Angers are second in the Ligue 1 table, just three points behind leaders Paris Saint-Germain, having won four of their opening six matches.
They have lost both of their away games, but those defeats came against Lyon and Lille who are far better than Toulouse.
The hosts lost 1-0 to Nimes at the weekend and have only beaten Amiens and bottom side Dijon this season.
BTTS in Chelsea v Grimsby (19:45)
Chelsea were beaten 2-1 at home to Liverpool on Sunday and have scored in all but two of their matches this season.
Frank Lampard is likely to make changes, but his side should still find a way past a defence that has kept just one clean sheet in 10 League Two games.
Grimsby have netted 16 goals in their 10 league games so far this season and have registered the highest xG in League Two (experimental361). At this price, they’re worth backing to find the net.
Reading to win or draw v Wolves (19:45)
Wolves have a big game against Watford in the Premier League on Saturday, so don’t expect Nuno Santo to take many risks with his small and tired squad.
If changes are made, then an opportunity will open up for Reading.
Jose Gomes’ side have lost just two of their six away games this season, and are much better than three consecutive defeats suggests.
Fiorentina to win or draw v Sampdoria & over 2.5 goals (20:00)
Fiorentina have improved a lot recently, battering Juventus in a 0-0 draw in their most-recent home game before drawing 2-2 at Atalanta.
That upturn in form should see them secure at least a point against Sampdoria.
Over 2.5 goals has landed in three of the visitor’s five matches this season, of which they’ve only won two.
Inter to beat Lazio (20:00)
Inter have been the best team in Serie A this season, so getting them at a price this close to evens is very attractive.
Antonio Conte’s have won all four of their matches so far, the most impressive of which was a 2-0 derby win against AC Milan on Saturday.
Lazio have lost their last two away matches, and were also beaten in three of their four away games against the top four last season.
