Tenner On: Our writers battle to win most weekend profit
Armed with a £10 stake, our writers put forth their football tips in an attempt to be crowned the week's top tipster.
Tenner On is our writers' weekly football tips competition.
The rules are simple: each writer is given £10 to place any bet(s) they like over the weekend. At the end of the season, the writer with the most profit is crowned the Insider's top tipster.
Leicester and Napoli to win, Atletico to win to nil, BTTS in Hoffenheim v Augsburg and Dortmund v Bayern: £10 at 19/2*
Leicester should make it back-to-back wins against dodgy travellers Burnley on what will be an emotional afternoon at the King Power Stadium.
Secondly, Napoli should make it seven wins from nine in Serie A against a Genoa side that have lost the plot since sacking manager Davide Ballardini.
In Spain, I’m backing a customary Atletico Madrid home win to nil against struggling Athletic Bilbao.
Finally, BTTS is a near-certainty when Hoffenheim are involved, while Dortmund and Bayern are bound to produce goals in the evening.
Leicester to win, Inter double chance and BTTS, PSG -1: £10 at 9/2*
I can’t see Leicester failing to win at home to a Burnley side that have conceded 13 goals in their last three matches and have taken just four points on the road all season.
Atalanta have found form recently, scoring 10 goals in three wins on the bounce, but Inter have won seven Serie A matches in a row and scored eight in their last two.
The visitors should at least take a point from their trip to Bergamo, with both sides getting on the scoresheet.
Monaco have been simply awful this season, losing 10 and drawing five of their last 15 games in all competitions.
Expect Thierry Henry’s side to get thrashed when they host the champions, who have won 12 of 12 in Ligue 1 so far.
Watford to beat Southampton: £10 at 21/10*
Watford let me down when I backed them to win away at one of the Premier League’s worst sides last weekend. I’ll look silly if they do so again, but that’s a risk I’m prepared to take.
The Hornets squandered several chances in their defeat against Newcastle. I think they will be more clinical against a defence that conceded six times at Manchester City last time out.
Liverpool to win & over 3.5 goals, Chelsea to win & BTTS, Arsenal and Manchester City both to win: £10 at 9/1*
There’s not much to go on this weekend, so I’ll try and squeeze a bit of value out of backing the favourites on a busy Super Sunday.
Liverpool have already thrashed West Ham 4-0 and Cardiff 4-1 at Anfield this season, and should have a similarly easy ride against a Fulham defence that have conceded 11 goals in three games against other top-six teams.
Chelsea have won six of their eight league games at Stamford Bridge but have kept just one clean sheet, so a home win and BTTS looks likely against an Everton team that have only failed to score once this season.
Wolves have lost three on the bounce, so are unlikely to upset Arsenal’s excellent home record, while I can’t look beyond City in the Manchester derby.
Birmingham, Swansea, Norwich and Accrington all to win: £10 at 12/1*
I’m resting heavily on my weekly EFL five-fold here.
Birmingham and Swansea are both in decent shape and should win their games against bottom-five sides Hull and Bolton respectively
Norwich are top of the Championship form table and are a generous price to win at home to Millwall, who have the equal-worst away record in the league.
In the FA Cup, I’m backing League One Accrington to beat lower-league opposition in Colchester and extend their unbeaten record at home.
