Man City to win and BTTS

Impossible as it might have seemed in May, Manchester City look in even better nick than last season.

Pep Guardiola’s side have racked up six goals in each of their last two matches – with six different attacking players hitting the net – and are averaging four goals per home Premier League match.

Manchester United’s renaissance means that it worth accounting for an away goal, though. Jose Mourinho’s side have scored 16 goals in eight away matches this season, including two in the last 10 minutes at Juventus on Wednesday.

While their 3-2 victory from 2-0 down in this fixture last season might be considered a tad freakish, you cannot disregard the idea that they might at least be competitive here.

David Silva to score

Silva is playing an even more advanced position for City this season, as his goal tally bears out.

The Spaniard has scored from inside the penalty area in both of his side’s six-goal routs in the last week, but has also shown his proficiency from long distance in netting six times in 14 appearances this season.

Fernandinho to be carded

Fernandinho has been carded three times in his last nine matches, with the latest of those coming at Tottenham a fortnight ago. Of the Brazilian’s 12 bookings last season, six came against the Big Six and Napoli.

Despite Pep Guardiola’s denials, he will be tasked with preventing Paul Pogba et al. from counter-attacking by any means possible.

Ander Herrera to be carded

Of the players to have made five or more Premier League appearances this season, Herrera ranks second for cards per minute.

The Spaniard’s two cards this season have come against Tottenham and Juventus, while five of his six bookings last term came against City (twice), Chelsea, Arsenal and Spurs.
