Chelsea to win and over 2.5 goals

Chelsea are joint top of the Premier League with 20 points from eight matches and should win this match comfortably.

While United’s 3-2 comeback win over Newcastle was rousing, the fact that they trailed by two goals to relegation fodder in the first place is a better indication of where Jose Mourinho’s side are currently at.

The Blues also have a formidable home record over United, winning 10 and drawing five of the two sides’ last 16 Premier League meetings at Stamford Bridge.

There should be goals, too. Chelsea have netted three or more four times already this campaign, while United goalkeeper David De Gea has conceded three four times in 14 appearances for club and country.

Eden Hazard to score

Hazard is currently the best player in the league, scoring seven times in six starts. He also netted against United the last time he faced them – a penalty in this year’s FA Cup final.

Ander Herrera to be booked

Herrera has received four bookings – two of which came in the same game – in his last four appearances against Chelsea.

Jose Mourinho to be sent to the stands

“Fuck off, sons of bitches” – aimed down the TV camera in Portuguese – was Mourinho’s response to United’s victory over Newcastle last time out, so I’m interested to see how he reacts should his side suffer a chastening defeat at the stadium where he was once adored.

Not well, is my guess.
