Cardiff first goal

Cardiff will be up for this, with the return of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer – the manager who got them relegated from the Premier League four years ago – adding extra spice to the match.

The Bluebirds are in great form at home, where they have won their last three matches in succession, while United have conceded first in seven of their last 10 matches in all competitions.

Man Utd to win

United have come from behind to claim points at Chelsea, Bournemouth, Juventus and Southampton this season. Under Solskjaer, who starred in several stirring comebacks as a United player under Sir Alex Ferguson, I’m backing them to come from behind and claim a morale-boosting win here.

Mason Greenwood last goalscorer

This is a punt, but Greenwood has scored 20 goals in 19 starts for United’s youth teams this season, including a hat-trick against Chelsea in the FA Youth Cup on Monday.

Solskjaer has been tasked with returning United to their values of old, and there’d be no better way of doing that than handing the 17-year-old his first-team debut. And even if, as is likely, that’s from the bench, what a start it'd be for both manager and player if Greenwood makes a decisive contribution.
