Here are Will Rook’s football tips for Senegal v Algeria, which kicks off at 20:00 on Friday.
Draw after 90 minutes
Senegal failed to register a single shot on target in their 1-0 after-extra-time victory over Tunisia in their semi-final, with a 100th-minute own goal eventually securing their passage through.
That was the second time in three games that Aliou Cisse’s side have failed to register an effort on target, while they have scored more than once in just one of their last five matches.
Algeria relied on a stoppage-time Riyad Mahrez free kick to get past Nigeria on Sunday, having needed penalties to get past the Ivory Coast in the quarter final.
Algeria to lift the trophy
Senegal were beaten 1-0 by Algeria in the group stage, while their reserved style means it’s hard to back them with much confidence.
Algeria have scored in all six of their AFCON matches and have been by some distance the most impressive side at the tournament.
Riyad Mahrez to score
Mahrez scored the goal to take his country to the final, netting a free kick with seconds to go against Nigeria on Sunday.
The Manchester City winger has scored three times in Egypt and will continue to be a threat on Friday.
