Blackburn to win or draw v Aston Villa

Aston Villa were hammered 4-1 at Sheffield United last time out, the worst result in what has been a poor start to the season.

Steve Bruce’s side are now winless in five, having failed to beat the Championship’s bottom two in Ipswich and Reading and also losing to Burton in the EFL Cup.

By contrast, Blackburn have not lost any of their four home matches this season, beating promotion-hopefuls Brentford in their last league outing at Ewood Park.

Borussia Monchengladbach to beat Schalke

Schalke have not dealt with the summer departures of Max Meyer and Leon Goretzka well, having lost both of their opening Bundesliga matches.

Last season’s runners up have won just one of their last four away games in the league and were beaten by relegated Hamburg and Cologne at the end of 2017/18.

Gladbach have won four straight games at home following their 2-0 win over Leverkusen on the opening day.

PSV to beat Den Haag

PSV have won six successive games in all competitions this season, and thrashed Willem II 6-1 last time out.

The Eredivisie champions have scored 14 games in their four league games so far, conceding just three, and should ease to another win this weekend.

Den Haag have won their last two against Fortuna Sittard and Excelsior, but neither of those sides are anywhere the standard of PSV.

Sampdoria to beat Frosinone

Frosinone have failed to score in any of their four matches so far this season, and are set for more disappointment on Saturday.

Sampdoria hammered Napoli 3-0 last time out, and have secured six points from a possible nine this term.

Should their hosts’ impotence continue, then another victory will be a formality.

Ajax (-1) to beat Groningen

Ajax beat Vitesse 4-0 away from home last time out, and have now won three and drawn one of their four Eredivisie matches this season.

Erik ten Hag’s side have scored 11 goals in the league so far and conceded just once.

Expect an easy home win against Groningen, who have lost three of four so far and were beaten 5-1 by Vitesse on the opening day.
