Blackburn to beat Hull –
Blackburn mauled League Two side Carlisle 5-1 in the first round of the EFL Cup on Tuesday, a game in which they were 4-1 up at half time.
That result made it three games without defeat for Rovers, who drew 0-0 with Millwall last weekend and were a stoppage-time equaliser away from victory at Ipswich on the opening day.
Hull were beaten 3-1 by Aston Villa in their only home game so far and, despite the two sides sitting just a point apart, the hosts look considerably worse off than last season after a poor summer of recruitment.
Leeds to beat Rotherham –
Leeds have won many admirers after opening their campaign with back-to-back victories over fellow promotion contenders Stoke and Derby.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side continued their 100 per cent start to the season with a 2-1 win over Bolton in the first round of the EFL Cup on Tuesday.
United should have too much for Rotherham, who were thrashed 5-1 at Brentford on the opening day and earned just two points away from home during their last spell in the Championship in 2016/17.
West Brom to beat QPR –
West Brom recorded back-to-back victories for the first time this season with a 1-0 win over Luton in the EFL Cup in midweek, having beaten Norwich 4-3 in the league last weekend.
Jay Rodriguez scored a brace in that victory at Carrow Road and – partnered by Dwight Gayle, who netted 23 during his last season at this level – the Baggies have an enviable forward line at this level.
QPR have failed to keep a clean sheet in any of their last 12 league matches and, following their 1-0 defeat at Preston on the opening day, have won just three of their last 28 away games in the Championship.
Barnsley to beat AFC Wimbledon –
Barnsley are the early leaders in League One with two victories from their first two matches
Daniel Stendel’s side have scored six league goals without reply and have and an xG of 1.25 – the fourth-highest average in League One – so are a good price to win again on Saturday, despite a 3-1 cup defeat for their fringe players at Blackpool in midweek.
Wimbledon finished three points above the relegation zone last season and their 1-0 victory at Fleetwood on the opening day was only their second away win in 10 league games.
Exeter to beat Newport –
Exeter made it two league victories from two under new manager Matt Taylor last weekend with a 2-0 win at Morecambe.
The Grecians followed that by beating Championship side Ipswich on penalties in the EFL Cup on Tuesday.
They should keep their 100 per cent record going against poor travellers Newport, who have won just two of their last 12 away games in League Two.
