Barnsley to beat Reading
The great escape is on for Barnsley, who beat Hull 1-0 on Wednesday to notch their third straight win.
That result took them off the bottom of the table and to within three points of safety. Gerhard Struber’s side have also beaten Middlesbrough and third-placed Fulham in that sequence.
Reading have managed just one victory in their last 11 matches in all competitions and were beaten 3-0 at home to Wigan in midweek, despite their visitors having previously won two away games all season.
Oxford to beat Southend
Relegation looks nailed on for second-bottom Southend, who were beaten 3-2 by Burton last weekend and have lost five straight league games.
Sol Campbell’s side have taken just 16 points all season, losing 23 of their 33 matches in League One.
Oxford have won three on the spin, including back-to-back games at home by an aggregate score of 8-0, and beat Southend 4-0 away in the reverse fixture in November.
Gillingham to beat AFC Wimbledon
Gillingham extended their unbeaten run to 15 league games – the longest in the EFL – last weekend with a goalless draw away to Lincoln.
Steve Evans’ side have taken 17 points from a possible 24 against the current bottom eight this season and have won four of their last six matches.
AFC Wimbledon were thumped 5-0 by Oxford in their last away game and have lost 14 out of 18 on the road in all competitions.
Port Vale to beat Scunthorpe
Port Vale beat fellow play-off contenders Colchester 3-0 in their last home game and have won four of their last six matches at Vale Park.
The Valiants have only lost one of their 17 league games at home this season and are unbeaten in seven.
Scunthorpe have lost three away games in a row in all competitions and their only victory in six on the road came against sixth-bottom Oldham last month.
Walsall to beat Stevenage
Bottom-of-the-league Stevenage are on their fourth manager of the season and have lost eight consecutive matches in all competitions.
Boro are on an 11-match winless run at home and have managed to score two goals in their last nine matches.
Walsall are unbeaten in four matches after drawing 2-2 with in-form Port Vale last weekend and look a big price.
